Poppy Close Up – Alcohol Ink Coloring

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great day! It’s TaeEun here today with a gorgeous alcohol inked poppy card! It’s been so long since I pulled out my alcohol inks last time. I love playing with alcohol inks and it’s so much fun but somehow I left my alcohol ink supplies in my drawer for so long 🙂 !

The Ton has so many Close Up floral stamps which are perfect for the alcohol ink coloring. As they are huge, you have lots of space to control the flow of the alcohol ink.

For today’s card I used the Poppy Close Up stamp. First I heat embossed it on a alcohol ink cardstock in gold and colored the large poppy in Mountain Rose, Poppyfield and Watermelon alcohol ink. I dropped the ink on the center of the petal and moved the ink towards the edge of it. I started with lighter color and darkened the flower. For the small areas I used a micro-applicator. If the ink goes over the outline, you can easily clean the area by rubbing it gently using a micro-applicator with some rubbing alcohol. I also colored the background in Cloudy Blue. After I was done with the coloring, I placed a gold foil over the colored panel and pressed it with a brayer so that the sticky parts of the colored flower get some gold foil transferred. The alcohol ink dries quickly but if it is concentrated on some area, it could take days to be completely dry. The foiling process saves me the drying time and I can get some gorgeous gold pattern !

Next I colored the seed pod with a brown fein Sharpie pen and splattered gold Mixative  on the panel and colored the stamen with the gold Mixative using a micro-applicator.

The die cut sentiment is from the Script Word set. I cut it once from a gold cardstock and three times from white cardstock and glued them together. The “GET WELL SOON” sentiment is from the Coming Up Poppies set.

I scattered some Metallic Gold Dew Drops and the card was finished.

Thank you so much for looking! Hope I was able to inspire you with my card today! If you have some alcohol inks in your stash, give them some love ❤️ !

Have a crafty day!
