Non-traditional holidays…

Good morning, and happy Monday, friends! Am I the only one who has just realized that Thanksgiving is in a little more than a week?!?! WHERE has this month gone? Where has this YEAR gone?!

Anyway, I’ve been enjoying playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge, and The Ton’s images are perfect for this challenge. I’m in Christmas card mode right now, so I chose to work with the beautiful Holiday Border cling stamp for one of my daily coloring routines.

This card is so simple, it’s a little embarrassing. I started by heat embossing the beautiful Holiday Border stamp on some watercolor paper using silver pearl embossing powder. I then used my Zig markers to watercolor some beautiful fuchsia and plum poinsettias, as well as creating a spring green background. Love that color combination… so non-traditional, but those poinsettias are undeniably Christmas-y!

After watercoloring those beautiful poinsettias, the card still felt a little flat (both literally and texturally) so I added some silver Wink of Stella to the berries and the centers of the poinsettias, finally adding some Glossy Accents to add a bit more dimension to the card front. The greeting is from Mistletoe Kisses… such a fabulous holiday sentiment set. I stamped it in Versamark, then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. The final touch was to add some Glass Slippers sequins for a bit more shine.

Well, that’s all for me today! I hope you enjoyed this project… simple, but the watercoloring helps add a little more oomph, as well as helping me feel like I’m not cheating with such a simple card… haha!! Getting down to crunch time, folks… Are you ready to mail those cards yet?? I’m surely not! Hope you  have a wonderful and productive week! 🙂
