Red or Blue ?

Hello and happy Monday, everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start!  It’s TaeEun here today sharing a couple of holiday cards made using Loose Poinsettias stamp set.  I’ve made one in red and the other one in blue-purple!

Here is my first card which is the red version.

I started off by gold heat embossing five poinsettias in two sizes from Loose Poinsettias stamp set on a Canson watercolor paper panel. I also gold heat embossed the leaf images several times. I colored the poinsettias and leaves using Color Burst powders. I used Alizarin Crimson, Merlot and Orange for the flowers. The leaves were colored in yellow brown using Mijello Mission Gold watercolors.

I fussy cut all the images and set them aside. You can use also the coordinating cut files.

To create the background I first gold heat embossed the sentiment from Poinsettia Wreath set on the center of a white cardbase. I then ink blended Lipstick Red on the cardbase leaving the center of it white. I splattered white opaque ink on it and let it dry.

I placed the red poinsettias and leaves on the cardbase making a floral frame as shown in the picture. The brown leaves were glued flat and the red poinsettias were mounted using some foam adhesives for some dimension. I then splattered opaque white ink on the poinsettias.  I know the red colored poinsettias are actually leaves but I think we may call them flowers 🙂 . I finished off the card by adding three clear dew drops.

And this is the blue holiday card I want to share with you.

Like the first card I started here also by heat embossing the poinsettias, but this time in silver. I colored the poinsettias in Cerulean Blue and Orchid Color Burst and the leaves and berries in silver. I fussy cut them all.

To create the background I used Blizzard Hugs stamp set. I heat embossed three snowflake images on a watercolor paper panel in white pearl. I ink blended the panel in Cali Blue and Cobalt Breeze starting from the two diagonal corners towards the center.

I arranged the poinsettias and the berries as shown in the picture. The large poinsettia was foam mounted and the other images were adhered flat on the front panel. The sentiment from Poinsettia Wreath set was stamped in Grape Crush.  I added a few Light Blue Topaz sparkling clear sequins to the card and the card was finished!

That was my two cards! Which one do you like more, red or blue 🙂 ? To me the red one is more attractive ❤ . But it could be the layout not the color which I like more 😉 .

    I think I love the red one more, probably for the same reason as you stated. I love the layout of that one. Like others, though I love the blending of the colors on the blue one and I like the snowflakes in the background of that one!
