Hello,
It’s Marika here at the Ton blog again. Thank you so much for your kind comments left on my last GD post. They really made my day, thank you!
For this second post, I used the Wild Cherry Blossoms and Beautiful Butterflies 3 stamp set. This set includes very realistic outline images of cherry blossoms. One thing what is really fun with this set, is that you can organise these flowers in so many ways that there are endless possibilities to use this stamp set. I googled an image of a cherry blossoms and mimic the branch to match with the photo to gain more realistic look on my card. On my first post, I used cold tones, in this second I wanted to use warm tones and get more like a children’s book look and feel to my card. If you are interested in the exact colors that I used, here is the list of the colors I used:
Copics: R00 – E000 – E42 – E40 – G20 – G43
Polychromos: Ivory 103, Light Flesh 132, Medium Flesh 131, Pompeian Red 191, Burnt Ochre 187, Cadmiun Orange 111, Raw Umber 180, Walnut Brown 177, Earth Green Yellowish 168, Olive Green Yellowish 174
Sequins: The Ton
Technically, my card is quite simple. I used masking while stamping my flowers with a light yellow ink. Probably any light ink will do, I usually try to match my ink color to the color that I want my images to be at the end. If you are using darker colors, it really doesn’t matter what color is the ink that you use to stamp your flowers. For instance, I used the same yellow ink to stamp the leaves. I drew the branches but there is a branch in the set if freehand drawing intimidates you. I was just too lazy to cut enough masks to be able to stamp the branch as well. Then I laid the first layer with copics and added details with colored pencils. For some reason, I find it quite odd to add sequins to a card that is totally one-layer, so that’s why I stamped the butterfly to a piece of card stock, fussy cut it and added a bit of foam tape behind it. In that way I get a bit of dimension to my card and the sequins don’t look so lonely in it. The sequins used are from Pink Diamond Couture Mix. Love that it has different sizes of clear, sparkling sequins!! Since I had used quite soft and warm tones on my image, I stamped the sentiment with dark grey ink instead of black.
Thank you so much for stopping by! Enjoy your day!
P.S. Almost – almost all snow has gone by now. Welcome spring!
This is so beautiful. I put the cherry blossoms stamps & dies on my wishlist!

Gorgeous card as always Marika, I love the look you achieve by using markers and pencils, they add so much texture to the petals and leaves on flower cards.
Congratulations on another invitation to be a Guest Designer at THE TON, I’m not surprised at all by them wanted you back.
I’m so happy Spring is finally arriving for you, I know how much it’s missed by all of us who live where Winter’s freezing temperatures last a long time, so enjoy the warmer temperatures that soon will be there.
Big hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
