Pretty Peony Close Up

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far! It’s TaeEun here today with a thank you card. I watercolored a peony cluster in a sketchy style, which I drew using the Pretty Peony Close Up Layering Stencils. Some time ago, I shared two cards in which I watercolored the main image in layers using layering stencils. For one of them, I stamped the outline using the coordinating stamp set, and for the other one, I drew the outline myself using a black fine liner after watercoloring the images using the layering stencils.

For today’s card, I tried another technique. I drew the peony image in a loose, sketchy style on a watercolor paper panel by tracing the outline of the openings of each stencil using a black Micron pen (size 02). I used all four stencils of the Pretty Peony Close Up set to create the peony sketch.

Next, I watercolored each layer separately and allowed the panel to dry completely each time.

Once I had finished the watercoloring, I cut the panel using a die from the Rectangle A2 Nested die set and foam mounted it on a gray cardbase.

The sentiment was cut using the Script Word Die. I cut the word once from black cardstock and three times from gray cardstock, stacking them all together. The shadow layer was die cut in white .

After I mounted the die cut sentiment, I finished the card with a few Glossy Black Opaque rhinestones

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope you will give this technique a try! Don’t forget to use a waterproof fine liner 🙂 !

Have a great day!

Stenciled Peonies

Hello everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of floral cards. As you know five new floral layering stencils were introduced at the Summer 2022 Release! There are three peony stencils and two pansy stencils. For today’s cards I used Climbing Peonies and Pretty Peony Close Up Layering Stencils.

First I stenciled both peony images on Neenah solar white panel in the same ink colors. Each set has three stencils for the flowers and one stencil for the leaves. I used two tones for each layer of the flowers. The first layer was stenciled in Whisper Pink and Peach Blossom. I added Bubblegum to the center of the flowers. The second layer was stenciled in Dolled Up and Peach Blossom and the third layer in Deep Peony and Coralline hybrid ink. The stamen was inked in Amber Citrine. For the leaves I used Meadow. I made the base of the leaves a bit darker by ink blending Spring Salad.

For the first card I used the Climbing Peonies image. This can be cut using the Coming Up Peonies coordinating die. I die cut it and set it aside.

To create the background I stamped the Coming Up Peonies on both sides of the white card front in Soft Ash. I ink blended the perimeter of the card in Deep Peony and splattered white watercolor on it.

Next I foam mounted the Climbing Peonies on the card. The sentiment is from the Daily Scripty Greetings set. I used the printed and foiled version of it due to a shipping issue. Of course you can heat emboss the sentiment in gold. I cut the sentiment with the coordinating die and added it with some foam tape to the card.

To finish off the card I scattered some Gold Rainbow Opaque rhinestones.

Next card is showing the Pretty Peony Close Up Layering Stencils. The image was stenciled in the same colors like the Climbing Peonies.

I cut the stenciled panel with the largest die from the Double Pierced Square Nested die set. I then cut the rhomboid frame from the center of the panel using two dies from the same die set.

I adhered the negative pieces of the stenciled panel on a 6”x 6” gray cardbase and foam mounted the frame. The gold sentiment is from the Daily Scripty Greetings set. The finishing touch for this card was the Metallic Gold Dew Drops

I love how detailed the stenciled peonies are! The achieved depth of the petals is amazing!

That’s it from me for today! Hope you enjoyed looking my cards!

Thank you for stopping by!
