Blue Cosmos

Hi friends. Happy Thursday. Vera here today. As many of you may know, I like featuring older sets especially from The Ton as I feel like we have so many beautiful sets that deserves lots of love instead of just being used when they’re newly released. For today, am highlighting Lively Cosmos Layering Stencil set. To me, this is what I consider as timeless set.

To start, I did the background using another all time favorite Quilted A2 Coverplate Die. Inked up the edges lightly with Cobalt Breeze just to add a bit of shadow. Next, using Lively Cosmos Layering Stencil I inked up the main image using Periwinkle, Stormy Sea, and Bright Emerald. Die cut using Lively Cosmos Coordinating Die. For the center of the flower I used Copic marker to add some dots.

Adhere the quilted heart background directly to card base. Then adhere the flower. Finish by adding the sentiment and some mix size Sky Blue Opaque Rhinestones.

I often find blue tones card as calming and am pretty happy with the way this card turned out. I hope you enjoy today’s card as much as I enjoy making it. Hope your week been a good one and this coming weekend be filed with some crafty times. Cheers.

Sending Love & Healing

Hi there lovely peeps. How’s it going? Vera here today for a mid week inspiration from The Ton.

As I have mention previously, I am currently watercolor obsessed. Granted, I am no where close to the amazing watercolor artist out there, but for I sure am having fun practicing.

For today, I am playing with the beautiful Coming Up Dahlias set.

I started by stamping the flower with very light color ink. Then I watercolor the image with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor. What I notice is I tend to do watercolor using wet on dry technique. The color doesn’t bleed as much and you can see the color transition more. I am only recently really getting into watercolor & still on my way to really find my style.

Once I am happy with the coloring, I then enhance the flowers outline with just slightly damp watercolor brush. Adhere the panel to the card base. For the sentiment, I used Brushed Hugs set and stamp & heat embossed the sentiment on a piece of black cardstock.

I can’t resist adding a little butterfly from Beautiful Butterflies 1 to complete the card and of course, my favorite embellishment, some Mixed Dew Drops.

So, which way is your preferred way to color flowers? Copic, watercolor or colored pencil? I love using both, Copic & watercolor. But, for now I am leaning toward watercolor. All I can say is that I am so glad that The Ton has so many gorgeous flower sets for me to practice on.

Well peeps, I hope you enjoy today’s inspiration and may your week be a fabulous one. Cheers…..
