  2. Marci Snee “Happy World cardmaking Day! Beautiful cards Mayline! My 3 thoughts are this: cardmaking has brought me my closest friends, it’s become my therapy and also has made me feel like I’ve talent to offer others. It’s an incredible hobby I enjoy every day. Thank you!!
  3. Viv N.Perfect! Those bows are too cute! And I’ve been looking for a sentiment that was from the family rather than one person
  4. Kim RendinoThat shaker card is awesome! The colors are so classy – I just love it!

The winner of our first ever challenge is Emily Midgett with this card!

We were absolutely floored with Emily’s use and choice of colors in this card.  Her coloring and shading are seamless and the deep orange, gold and peach just pop against the subtle black card base to make this the winner of our first ever challenge.

We had enough entries to award 3 runner ups with $10 prizes. The runner ups are (in no particular order):IMG_2455-2

Lisa’s card was absolutely adorable. We love how she popped up her panda against a colorful, multi stitched background to emphasize her happy panda! We also love the floating gilding on this card that draws the eye across the the card.

We love Vera’s card with the coloring, shading and the subtle floral tone-on-tone background that just emphasizes her large peony even more.  The grid paper which the large peony was stamped on just gave this card a little more texture and oomph.

Chris’ card was so inventive – we loved her perfect wreath where she used different leaves and ferns that were stamped perfectly in harmonizing fall colors.  We also love the touch of gold glitter within the wreath to make it pop just a little more.

Challenge winners, please send an email at THETONSTAMPS@GMAIL.COM with WCMD CHALLENGE WINNER/RUNNER UP in the subject line within 48 hours!

Thank you all for participating in World Cardmaking Day with us!  We loved seeing everyone’s creations and we’re looking forward to seeing your next cards in our second challenge which will be posted soon – stay tuned!

World Cardmaking Day 2015 Blog Hop, Challenge and Giveaways

wcmd1

Hello and welcome to The Ton’s first ever World Cardmaking Day post!  Since this is our first year, we really wanted to take part in this worldwide event.  I read on the official WCMD site that this day kicks off holiday card making season and that is why I chose Holiday Cards as the theme for our design team blog hop today.  The order of the hop is as follows:

  1. The Season – The Ton <— You are here!
  2. Mayline
  3. Jess
  4. Ruby

We have some fabulous giveaways for this hop: Four $25 gift codes to our shop.  To qualify for the giveaways, you must leave a comment on each stop on the hop. You have until Wednesday, October 7, 12PM (EST) to leave a comment.  Winners will be announced thereafter.

In addition to our design team hop, we have our first ever World Cardmaking Day Project Challenge (with several gift code prizes)!  Please see the details below our Blog Hop post!!

For my first card for our DT Blog Hop today, I created a Christmas Card using our Shoe Wardrobe Solid (First Edition) stamp set and Holiday Bows stamp set (with coordinating dies).  I wanted to use non holiday sets to create my cards for today.  Here is a video on how I made this card!

I kept the card very clean and simple and chose not include a sentiment for a stark and sophisticated look.

wcmd3My next card was a bit more involved because I wanted to create a snowy look but I did not have any snow.  I know there are several snow pens/markers on the market right now but I just did not purchase one because I did not think I would be using it much.  For this card, I wanted to place the Ugg boots (Shoe Wardrobe Solid 2d. Ed.)in a snow bank with the appropriate “Dashing Through the Snow” sentiment from our Holiday Lyrics set.  I just used some glitter embossing powder to cover the tips of the Uggs to create a snow bank effect.

I embossed the sentiment over the embossed snow bank (very cool technique to try). Then I finished off the card by adhering individual mini gold stars over the front of the card.  Here is a video on how I created this card.

Thanks for stopping! Your next stop on the hop is Mayline! Make sure you leave a comment here (and on the rest of the hop stops) to qualify to win one of four $25 gift codes to our shop!

The first card I spotted for this month’s post was Chris’ simple, classy and stunning created by using our Large Peony 2 stamp set.  We found her card on Instagram and had to share it!

I found another card by Chris (she got down to business with her new stamps!) where she used our new Holiday Bows set to create a clean and simple holiday card.

Next I found this great video tutorial by Justine on Youtube where she created a soft and pretty card using our Peony Garden background stamp.

Next, I found this beautiful, bright fall themed card by Jacquie over in the Stamp Junkies Facebook group created with our new layered Autumn Foliage stamp set.  Her nontraditional leaf colors totally pop off the page!

Next, I spotted this beautiful floral card by our good friend, Virginia, where she used our Fresh Cut Dahlias.  She was inspired to make this fun and bright card from her recent travels!

Holiday card making season is just around the corner so I had to include the next set of cards by Sherry (@bahlmans on Instagram).  She created a chic set of holiday cards with our Second Edition Solid Shoe Wardrobe set and Round Diamonds set.  I love seeing non-holiday stamps used for holiday cards. What a great way to stretch your stamps!

I found the next set of cards on Instagram by Tracie (@traciepond). She, too, got down to business with her new stamps when she received our new Fresh Cut Dahlias.  Tracie selectively used the layers in this set to create these fun cards.

The next project I spotted was by Amy on Instagram (@thecraftbunny). She made a super chic pocket letter with our Shoe Wardrobe Outline stamp set.  Everyone needs a little Louboutin in their lives, even if it’s just a stamped version 😉  Our Shoe Wardrobe sets are super trendy and so on point right now with all the different fashion week shows going on (New York, Milan, Paris, etc).
