The Ton Blog Take-Over - Taheerah Atchia

Today I’ve another couple of fun projects for you featuring several of the amazing stamp sets in The Ton’s line-up!

First up, an outside-the-box use of Pyrotechnics:

Happy Card

Fun, right?!

Happy Card - Detail

I used the largest dot image to create a fun background! And to add some interest, I created an irregular ‘polka dot’ pattern using the reverse of one of the tiny flower images in the Mini Wild Florals set! I love doing fun techniques with the backs of stamps!

My next project showcases all those amazing frames from the Vintage Frames set:

Shine Frames Card

I really love how this one turned out! I heat embossed several of the frames with gold embossing powder for an opulent feel!

Shine Frames Card - Detail

You might be able to tell that I love the colour combo of gold, pink and mint/green! I added some of the florals from Mini Wild Florals then watercoloured over some of the other frames. A partially inked sentiment from the Round Diamonds set completes the look!

I’ve absolutely loved being a Guest Designer for The Ton this weekend, and I hope you’ve felt the same! I want to thank Effie so much for having me! If you want to see more of my work please check out my blog, and please also leave a comment on this post! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Weekend Blog Take-Over With Taheerah Atchia – Day 1!

Hi everyone, and happy Saturday! I’m Taheerah and I blog over at *Fill Your Paper With The Breathings of Your {Heart}* and I’m delighted to be staging a Take-Over of The Ton’s blog today! Over the course of today and tomorrow I’ll be bringing you a few projects that I hope you will love!

The Ton Blog Take-Over - Taheerah Atchia

A few words about me, for those who don’t know me!

I’m a 30-plus-a-few Londoner now living in the North West of England with my beautiful cats. I work in IT by day and craft by night! I love all things geeky – having a background in science and working in my profession I guess that can’t be avoided! I’ve always been creative but stamping and cardmaking have truly captured my heart and my imagination. I love experimenting with most styles and am definitely a huge lover of trends. You can find my work on my blog – I’d love it if you stopped by and checked it out! I really thrive on pushing my skills and creative eye to the limit, so my work is frequently packed with techniques, outside-the-box uses of product, and clever details!

I fell in love immediately with The Ton’s unique and highly detailed stamps, particularly those of the diamonds and peonies! I had to add them to my arsenal straight away and couldn’t wait to have a play and show you a project or two! And of course, once you take a look at all the other amazing designs that The Ton has, well, you just have to have them too!

For my first project I’m sharing a piece of wall art featuring Fresh Cut Peonies and Friggin’ Fabulous:

You're Amazing Wall Art

As you can see, I chose to use the peonies in a watercolour style – how cool is that?! I dampened my watercolour paper and then spritzed the stamps with water after inking to help the ink to spread! I still used all the layer-building capabilities of the stamps but with the soft dreamy look of a watercolour – love!

You're Amazing Wall Art - Detail

I just love the sentiments from Friggin’ Fabulous – and their unique nature too! I used a few of them to build my sentiment to add a bit of a funky touch to an otherwise traditional-looking piece!

You're Amazing Wall Art - Sentiment Detail

My next project shows off the detailed nature of those peonies and just why I fell in love with them so much:

You're Wonderful Card

I am so completely in love with this card! Lots of layers, funky embellishments and gold and glitter – Heaven! Aren’t those peonies *incredible*?! I stamped them in various tones of creams, pinks and corals!

You're Wonderful Card - Flowers & Background

If you look closer at the background you should also be able to see the *amazing* detail you can get from the Peony Garden Background stamp – stunning! I heat embossed it with semi-dull clear embossing powder for a subtle finish, almost like a letterpress effect!

You're Wonderful Card - Detail

Of course, Friggin’ Fabulous featured for the sentiment again! I can’t get enough of those wonderful brush script words!

I hope you’ve loved today’s projects! Please join me again tomorrow for more – and please do leave a comment and let me know whether you’ve loved what you’ve seen today! Thanks for stopping  by!

Wild

Hi friends! It’s Rubeena here posting for The Ton. Sorry, I’m a day late, but I hope you enjoyed Jessica’s adorable post from yesterday, where she featured the Vintage Frames set!

IMG_0371
I created a fun shaker card with Glass Slippers, Matte Gold, and Shotgun Gray sequins in 4mm. I first stamped the lion from Sketchy Menagerie using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock and fussy cut it. I took size A2 kraft cardstock and diecut it using the large die from Mama Elephant’s Peek a Frame Creative Cuts.

IMG_0372
I stamped the “hello” and the heart from Vintage Frames and “You make my heart go wild” from Sketchy Menagerie using Hero Arts black ink on the bottom right. Using the hill die from Mama Elephant’s Landscape Trio, I die cut some gaps on the kraft cardstock. I added a size A2 acetate sheet to the back of the pieces, attached foam tape behind the black and cardstock areas, and filled it with sequins before attaching to a patterned paper.

IMG_0370
I added the lion to black cardstock and fussy cut with some space around it and added that to the front of the card to finish off the look.

What a unique card for that special man in your life! 🙂

Hope you enjoyed my card!

By the way, you should totally check out Effie’s coloring of these wild animals: the lion, the elephant, and the bear! If interested, maybe you can request a tutorial from her. 🙂 We have been playing along with Kathy’s The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. You can find pictures on instagram with the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. Have a great day!

Gala Invitation Couture Sequin Mix!

Hi, Jessica here with a card I created using the Round Diamonds Stamp Set.  I based the color scheme off of the gorgeous colors in the Gala Invitation Couture Sequin Mix!

The Ton Gala Invitation Couture Sequin Mix

I love the shades of coral along with the sparkly clear peachy color and the metallic gold!   Here’s what I came up with!

Jessica Frost-Ballas The Ton Round Diamonds Gala InvitationI started of by stamping the diamond shapes and the sentiment with Versamark ink and heat-embossing it with Hero Arts white embossing powder on Tim Holtz watercolor paper.  Then I mixed Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon distress ink on a craft sheet to create a peachy color.  If you’re trying to recreate the color it’s approximately two smushes of ripe persimmon and one smush of picked raspberry…ha, I know, very technical.  I wet the paper thoroughly and then painted on the distress ink!  I let it dry on its own so the edges would be softer.  Once it was dry I went a little crazy… 😉

I started off by dripping water onto paper and then blotting it to create the lighter dots.  I also spritzed and dripped some Hero Arts gold spray onto the paper concentrating the larger spots in the bottom right of the card.  I spritzed on a little Tsukineko Shimmer spray; then I decided I wanted a little more color so I flicked on a little distress ink.   For this color it was more of an even mix of the picked raspberry and ripe persimmon.  I also wanted a little more gold…so I stamped the diamond outlines with versamark and heat-embossed them with Ranger Enchanted Gold embossing powder.  It’s a paler gold with a little bit of sparkle and was just what I was looking for!  Next, I glued on a sprinkling of Gala Invitation sequins!

To finish the card I glued strips of gold glitter paper to the sides of a top-folding A2 card base made from Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Then I trimmed half an inch off the long sides of the watercolor piece and adhered it to the card front with foam mounting tape for a little more dimension.

I’m really pleased with the way it turned out and I hope you like it, too!  I love the way the white pops on the peach background and I love the sparkle from the sequins.  Thanks so much for visiting!

-Jess

Another Pair

Hello, it’s Rubeena here, excited because I’ll be posting here every Wednesday for The Ton! Today’s card features Shoe Wardrobe Lined. One of my favorite crafters Kathy at The Daily Marker is starting a 30-day coloring challenge today, and I have accepted the challenge as well! I decided to get out some of my Copic markers and color in the shoes from this amazingly unique shoe set.

This is my card:

This card was not difficult but it did take me some time due to the coloring. I started with size A2 white cardstock that I die-cut using the largest die from Mama Elephant’s Peek a Frame Creative Cuts. I die cut out a smaller rectangle from the center, stamped the shoe shelves in Versamark, and heat embossed them in white. The MISTI helped me to align everything properly! This is the first time I’ve taken the tool out since I received it weeks ago and feel it’s so worth it.

shoes flat
I stamped different pairs of shoes over the shelves using Memento Tuxedo Black ink since it’s safe to use with Copic markers. The Copic colors used were completely random, and some of the pairs of shoes were finished off with Zig Wink of Stella Brush in Clear Glitter.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark on the bottom middle part of the A2 layer I had cut out earlier. It was heat embossed in black. This layer was added to the card base using foam tape and the inner layer was glued without foam tape so it looks like it’s a shelf inside. I felt that it would be best not to add any other embellishments! What do you think?

Thanks for visiting! Tomorrow we’ll have our new DT member Jess share even more creativity with you, and I’ll be back next Wednesday with another card for you. Have a great day!

New DT Member: Jess!!

It is my pleasure to announce our new Design Team member, Jess!  We’re so excited to have her on our team!  We’re huge fans of her cards and style (and she’s super nice also)!  Today, we’re having Jess post on our blog.  The card she created is just so cool and so beautiful.

Hi there!  Jessica here and I am thrilled, absolutely THRILLED, to be joining the Design Team for The Ton!

Jess

I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with my incredibly supportive husband, two feisty senior shelties, a stubborn tortoiseshell kitten, and a no-nonsense Dutch bunny.  I am a professional musician by day: teaching harp and piano lessons, directing a church choir, freelancing for weddings and other events…and a crafter by night!  I’ve been making cards since I was a kid but I’ve only recently been able to really devote time and space to crafting when my husband and I built our first home in 2013.  I love creating personal cards for my friends and family and I can often be found stamping a couple images or embossing a sentiment in-between lessons and gigs!  When I’m not working or crafting I also enjoy cooking, photography, and DIY home projects.  For all that fun stuff (plus cards, of course) please visit me at my blog, All the Sparkle!

I discovered Effie and her company only a little over a week ago but I immediately fell in love with her stamp designs and couture sequin mixes!  I ordered the Round Diamonds stamp set and created a shaker card with the Strawberries and Cream couture sequin mix which I shared on my blog last week! For my first official post I knew I wanted to go in a slightly different direction…and here’s what I came up with!

Jessica 1

I thought the beautiful diamond stamp would be a perfect fit for the most iconic jewelry box in the world!  Technically, of course, the lid is wrong…but you get the idea, right? 😉  I thought this would make be a fun and elegant engagement card!

Sapphires are my favorite gemstones so I decided to use the stamp set to create a gorgeous platinum sapphire ring!  I started off by coloring a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush.  Then I inked the first layer of the stamp with Versamark and then Studio Calico Color Theory ink in Deja Blue.  For the second layer I used the 2nd generation stamping of the same ink for a slightly lighter shade.  The third layer was stamped with Delicata pigment ink in Silver Shimmer.  After all three layers were stamped I heat-embossed the diamond with Hero Arts clear embossing powder.  Then I used two circle dies to cut the ring shape from Ranger silver foil.  I fussy cut the diamond and adhered it to the ring with foam mounting tape.

Jessica 3

Then I started working on the jewelry box!  I used a new die from Neat and Tangled to create the box from Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue card stock.  I took a little square of white tissue paper and glued it into the box to create the wrapping paper for the ring.  I also took scraps of ivory ribbon and used glue dots to attach it to the box.  I cut the ends of the ribbon into a fishtail shape to make the ribbon look more finished.  Once that was complete, I nestled the ring into the box and used a little piece of foam mounting tape to secure the bottom of the ring inside the box!

Next, I inked the sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Sending and Wishing stamp set with Versamark and the same Deja Blue ink.  Then I stamped it on the bottom right corner of a top-folding A2 card base of Neenah Solar White card stock and heat-embossed the sentiment with Hero Arts clear embossing powder.  I die-cut the word Wishing from silver glitter paper and adhered it above the rest of the sentiment.  Then I glued the box slightly off-center on the card with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte.  I put two small pieces of foam mounting tape under the front flaps of the box so they’d have a little dimension.  To finish the card I glued a sprinkling of Silver Metallic and Glass Slippers sequins in various sizes across the front of the card with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte.  I love that Effie offers some of her sequins in mixed sizes…they’re the perfect touch to finish a card with a little sparkle!

Jessica 2

So that’s it! I hope my card inspires you to use her stamps in your creations and I look forward to working with Effie and Rubeena on the Design Team!
