Guest Designer: Taheerah Atchia

Hi everyone, Happy Wednesday! It’s Taheerah and I’m so happy to be joining you again this month as The Ton’s Guest Designer! I’ve been having a ball so far!

The Ton does flower designs like nobody else. There’s always something different or unique about them that sets them apart. The Dahlia Close-Up Cling Background stamp is a perfect example and I couldn’t wait to ink it up:

With such a striking background, you don’t want the sentiment to distract too much, so I opted for one of the quotes from the Timeless Icons Sentiment stamp set. The subtle look of the sentiments matched the elegance of the design perfectly.

I’ve barely scratched the surface with both of these stamps! This card design could be easily turned into a coordinating set, and you could still keep it fresh by altering the colours of the embossing powder and watercolouring, and changing up the sentiments too!

I hope you’ve loved my work here today! I’ll be back again soon with something new to share – or head on over to my blog to see some of my other work in the meantime! Thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Blog Take-Over With Taheerah Atchia – Day 2!

Today I’ve another couple of fun projects for you featuring several of the amazing stamp sets in The Ton’s line-up!

First up, an outside-the-box use of Pyrotechnics:

Happy Card

Fun, right?!

I used the largest dot image to create a fun background! And to add some interest, I created an irregular ‘polka dot’ pattern using the reverse of one of the tiny flower images in the Mini Wild Florals set! I love doing fun techniques with the backs of stamps!

My next project showcases all those amazing frames from the Vintage Frames set:

Shine Frames Card

I really love how this one turned out! I heat embossed several of the frames with gold embossing powder for an opulent feel!

You might be able to tell that I love the colour combo of gold, pink and mint/green! I added some of the florals from Mini Wild Florals then watercoloured over some of the other frames. A partially inked sentiment from the Round Diamonds set completes the look!

I’ve absolutely loved being a Guest Designer for The Ton this weekend, and I hope you’ve felt the same! I want to thank Effie so much for having me! If you want to see more of my work please check out my blog, and please also leave a comment on this post! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Weekend Blog Take-Over With Taheerah Atchia – Day 1!

Hi everyone, and happy Saturday! I’m Taheerah and I blog over at *Fill Your Paper With The Breathings of Your {Heart}* and I’m delighted to be staging a Take-Over of The Ton’s blog today! Over the course of today and tomorrow I’ll be bringing you a few projects that I hope you will love!

A few words about me, for those who don’t know me!

I’m a 30-plus-a-few Londoner now living in the North West of England with my beautiful cats. I work in IT by day and craft by night! I love all things geeky – having a background in science and working in my profession I guess that can’t be avoided! I’ve always been creative but stamping and cardmaking have truly captured my heart and my imagination. I love experimenting with most styles and am definitely a huge lover of trends. You can find my work on my blog – I’d love it if you stopped by and checked it out! I really thrive on pushing my skills and creative eye to the limit, so my work is frequently packed with techniques, outside-the-box uses of product, and clever details!

I fell in love immediately with The Ton’s unique and highly detailed stamps, particularly those of the diamonds and peonies! I had to add them to my arsenal straight away and couldn’t wait to have a play and show you a project or two! And of course, once you take a look at all the other amazing designs that The Ton has, well, you just have to have them too!

For my first project I’m sharing a piece of wall art featuring Fresh Cut Peonies and Friggin’ Fabulous:

You're Amazing Wall Art

As you can see, I chose to use the peonies in a watercolour style – how cool is that?! I dampened my watercolour paper and then spritzed the stamps with water after inking to help the ink to spread! I still used all the layer-building capabilities of the stamps but with the soft dreamy look of a watercolour – love!

I just love the sentiments from Friggin’ Fabulous – and their unique nature too! I used a few of them to build my sentiment to add a bit of a funky touch to an otherwise traditional-looking piece!

My next project shows off the detailed nature of those peonies and just why I fell in love with them so much:

You're Wonderful Card

I am so completely in love with this card! Lots of layers, funky embellishments and gold and glitter – Heaven! Aren’t those peonies *incredible*?! I stamped them in various tones of creams, pinks and corals!

If you look closer at the background you should also be able to see the *amazing* detail you can get from the Peony Garden Background stamp – stunning! I heat embossed it with semi-dull clear embossing powder for a subtle finish, almost like a letterpress effect!

Of course, Friggin’ Fabulous featured for the sentiment again! I can’t get enough of those wonderful brush script words!

I hope you’ve loved today’s projects! Please join me again tomorrow for more – and please do leave a comment and let me know whether you’ve loved what you’ve seen today! Thanks for stopping  by!
