Video: Watercolored Sunflower Garden

sunfl garden

Hey everyone, Effie here! I’m popping in with another card and video today using a project created from our Sunflower Garden and Fresh Cut Sunflowers sets.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel because I update it regularly with videos every week!

I started off by white heat embossing the large 6×6 cling stamp onto an A2 watercolor panel (Canson XL 140lb watercolor paper). Next I watercolored the petals of my sunflowers using a combination of Gamboge and Tangerine color bursts. For my sunflower centers, I used a combination of Sepia and Burnt Umber color bursts. Next, I created a mixture of Terre Vert and Burnt Umber for a deep olive green which I used to watercolor the rest of my background.

While this panel dried, I stamped some beautifully layered Fresh Cut Sunflowers and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Inks used on sunflowers: Citrine Collection, Crystal Garden Collection, Found Topaz Dye Ink, Aspen Cocoa Dye Ink

Next I adhered my layered sunflowers onto the right edge of my watercolored panel. I trimmed off the excess florals and adhered the panel onto a top folding A2 110lb base. Next I created my sentiment banner from our Basic Banners set and coordinating dies (the thanksgiving sentiment is from our Holiday Add On set).  Lastly, I popped up the sentiment banner and added Clear Dew Drops to finish my card.

We are also proud to be one of the many sponsors for the Caring Hearts Card Drive. Our very own Vera is the brainchild of this truly amazing drive. The purpose of this card drive is to collect holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes. Head over to Vera’s blog for more information on how to participate!

Sunflowers

Hello and happy Friday everyone! It’s TaeEun here today to share three sunflower cards with you.

For The Ton’s Spring 2017 Release Effie designed another gorgeous layering floral stamp set and Garden cling background stamp featuring Sunflowers: Fresh Cut Sunflowers and Sunflower Garden cling stamp. As it gets warm here in northern hemisphere, these stamp sets provide perfect images for cards sending sunshine to recipients :).

On my first card I’ve created DIY background using layered sunflowers.

To start off I stamped the sentiment from Fresh Cut Sunflowers in Noir. I then started stamping the first solid layer to fill the A2 panel along with masking. I used Lemon Drop, Amber Citrine and Lofty mint. I stamped the second layer with the same ink. It is hard to see in the picture but IRL you can see the subtle layering. I then stamped the flower centers using the inks from Cocoa Collection. The third layer of sunflowers was heat embossed in gold for some shine :)! I filled in the empty area with some sequins from Belle’s Dress and Hot Cocoa Couture Mix.

The main image of my next two cards is Sunflower Garden cling stamp.

On my second card for today I heat embossed the Sunflower Garden in multicolor using yellow, green and gold embossing powder on a yellow cardstock. I then colored the image with Prismacolor pencils. (Btw in The Ton’s shop we have now Boutique section, where you can find crafting supplies like colored pencils.) I made a panel with a piece of Adhesive foil paper Gold from which I cut out the outline of the big sunflower of the Sunflower Garden with a cutting machine and foam mounted it on the colored panel. The sentiment is from Macarons set. I gold heat embossed it on a dark brown cardstock and added it on the card on a nest of golden thread. To finish off I scattered some sequins from Medallion Gold Sequins.

My last card was made using spotlight coloring technique.

First I stamped the Sunflower Garden in embossing ink on a white cardstock and heat embossed it in silver. I then die cut the panel with three dies of the Double Stitched Square dies so that I got four parts of my panel cut. I then colored the central square and a frame using acrylic paints as shown in the picture. I glued the uncolored parts flat on the card base and added the colored parts using some foam adhesives. The sentiment is from Chandelier stamp set. I silver heat embossed it on a strip of black cardstock, added a mat of Glossy fine silver adhesive Glitter paper and mounted it on the card. Finishing touch for this card was some beautiful Dew Drops.
