Monochromatic floral cards

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far! It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of floral cards. Yes, let’s take a break from Christmas cards :)!

I used Fresh Cut Carnations and Large Florals: Carnation set from our Fall 2017 Release. I kept the cards in a monochromatic style in blue and purple respectively by making the background in the same tone like the flowers.

Let’s start with the blue version!

I stamped the layered carnations from Fresh Cut Carnations in Cobalt breeze and Deep Sapphire. I skipped the first layer to brighten the image. I stamped the stem in gray using Crystal Pewter and Smoky Quartz and cut all the images out with coordinating dies. I then created the watercolor background panel by adding blue paint loosely on a wet watercolor paper. I added blue and white splatters on it and let it dry. The panel was cut with the largest Double Stitched Rectangle die and glued on a white cardbase. To white emboss the sentiment from Magnificent Magnolias I blended Cobalt breeze and Deep Sapphire on a strip of white cardstock. I matted the sentiment strip with some Silver glitter adhesive paper and foam mounted the sentiment and flowers onto the card along with some silver thread. To finish off the card I used some sequins from Milky Way and Midnight Frost Couture Mix.

For my second card I used Large Florals: Carnation set.  To stamp the large carnation I used Iris Blooms and Grape Crush dye ink. Here also I skipped the first layer. I cut the flower with the coordinating die and set it aside.

To create the background panel I die loose watercolor wash on some watercolor paper in purple and light blue. I then stamped the second layer of the leave image on it in Iris Blooms . And I added some leaves from Large Peony set 1 and 3 in Soft Amethyst. I then splattered purple and opaque white watercolor on it and let it dry. I foam mounted the flower on a nest made with some silver thread. The sentiment is from Large Florals: Carnation as well. I made a ombre purple strip by blending Iris Blooms and Grape Crush and white heat embossed the sentiment. For some sparkle I added a thin line of purple glitter tape and mounted the sentiment strip onto the card. My finishing touch was some clear Dew Drops.

Coloring using Layering Stamps

Hello everyone! And happy Friday!!!  🙂 It’s TaeEun here today with two carnation cards to share with you.

I love gorgeous layering stamps by The Ton. But I’m a coloring addict, as you may already know, and have to color even images from layering stamps 🙂 . For today’s cards I used the third layer of Large Florals: Carnation stamp set as my guide to color the carnations. The carnation on the first card was watercolored using Inktense pencils and the second carnation was colored using Prismacolor colored pencils.

Let’s take a look at my first card!

To start off I stamped the third layer of the Large Florals: Carnation in Picked Raspberry DI on some Bristol smooth paper. To define the outline of the flower I made a mask of the solid image, masked the flower and blended Crystal Pewter very light around the carnation flower. I then colored the flower using Inktense pencils. They are water soluble colored pencils, which are famous for their vibrant colors. First I drew the outlines of the petals in dark pink and added the darkest shade in the same color. I then blended the color out towards the tip of the petals using a wet brush. I added a little bit of red on some area. For the leaves I stamped the detail layer in green after masking the flower and colored them in blue and green. After the panel was dry, I fussy cut the carnation. The background panel was created by smooshing some green and blue Distress inks on mixed media paper. I added thin strips of Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver on both sides of the panel and glued it flat on the soft pink cardbase.

I then foam mounted a square frame, cut with Double Stitched Square dies from a silver glitter panel made using  Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver and added the flower using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from Penned Sentiments set. I white heat embossed it on a strip of black cardstock and added it onto the card. I used clear and Seaglass blue Dew Drops to embellish my card.

On my next card I used Black magic coloring technique (here gray magic? 🙂 ).

I chose a gray cardstock for my next carnation. To color on a gray panel I first stamped the solid image in Hampton white pigment ink. After the white pigment ink was dry I stamped the third layer in Soft Garnet on the solid image. With the third layer as my guide I sketched the outlines of the petals using dark pink Prismacolor pencil and then started to color the carnation. I colored the leaves in various cool gray pencils and added shades around the carnation in gray too. I then created a bokeh background using Hampton white pigment ink and circle stencils. I narrowed down the gray panel while leaving the leaves , adhered thin strips of Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver on both sides and mounted the panel flat on the soft pink cardbase.

The sentiment from Penned Sentiments was white heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock. The other part of the sentiment was stamped in Hampton white pigment underneath the black sentiment strip. To finish off I scattered some sequins from New Year and Spotlight Couture Mix.
