Dry Embossing using Dies – featuring Washi Tapes

Hello and welcome to The Season! Hope your week is off to a great start!

It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of cards I made using our new floral washi tapes. I love love love the floral washi tapes!!! They are beautiful and you have endless possibilities to use them to embellish your projects! I cut out the floral images of the washi tapes and used them like die cut floral elements for both of my cards today. I created the background for the beautiful floral elements by dry embossing the panel using dies.

The first card is featuring Pink Peonies washi tape.

I adhered the Pink Peonies washi tape on a white cardstock and fussy cut the floral clusters from it. I set them aside and started making the background panel.

To create the background I dry embossed a white A2 sized panel using Geo Mountain Coverplate die B. I then applied an embossing ink on the half of the panel and sprinkled Rose Gold embossing powder on the panel and heat set it.

I die cut the sentiment using Bold Amazing Greeting Word plate die and Sweetheart Word plate die from white cardstock. I heat embossed the upper part of “fabulous” in Rose Gold and foam mounted the letters on the background panel. I then arranged the small flowers and leaves from Pink Peonies washi tape around the letters and added “you’re” die cut, stacked three times, on the “fabulous”. I went over the “you’re” die cut with a clear glitter pen to add more shine.

The second card is showcasing Wildflowers washi tape.

Here again I adhered the Wildflowers washi tape on a white cardstock and fussy cut the floral images. The background panel is a shimmer cardstock. I dry embossed it using Double Stitched Circle dies. I also cut a circle frame using two of the Double Stitched Circle dies from a dark gray cardstock as a base of my wreath.

I adhered the dry embossed background panel on a gray cardbase and foam mounted the dark gray frame on it. I then arranged the floral elements I cut from the Wildflowers washi tape in a wreath on the circle frame.

The sentiment is from Painted Peonies set. I white heat embossed it on a circle vellum piece. I adhered the vellum on a gray circle and foam mounted it on the center of the card. I finished off the card by scattering some Glass Slippers Round Confetti.

Dry embossing with dies adds interesting texture on your background!

Large Flowers

Hello everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of floral cards to share with you.

I love The Ton’s large flower stamps like Large Peony , Large Dahlia or Large Florals series.  And there are many big flower images from other stamp sets like the peonies you can find from Peony Duo set. They are all beautiful and the open flower images are just perfect to color using any medium!

For today’s cards I chose Large Florals: Heritage Rose and the big peony from Peony Duo as my focal image and added them on a textured background created using Geo Mountain Coverplate die cuts as stencils.

This is the first card featuring Large Florals: Heritage Rose .

I started by stamping and cutting the big rose, leaves and small flower branches. The flowers are stamped in Rose Quartz, Soft Garnet and Red Sangria hybrid ink and the leaves in Crystal Pewter, Smoky Quartz and Light Onyx. They were all cut using coordinating dies.

To create the background I cut a heavy weight cardstock using Geo Mountain Coverplate Die A to use it as a stencil. I placed the DIY stencil on a piece of shimmer cardstock and applied clear glitter embossing paste on it. I did it only partially. After the panel was dry I cut it with a Double Stitched Rectangle die and mounted it flat on a light gray cardbase. I then arranged the floral elements onto the card as shown in the picture. Some are glued flat and some mounted with foam adhesives.

The sentiment was cut using Hello word die three times from some white cardstock. On one of the cardstock pieces I adhered Glossy Fine Transparent Adhesive glitter paper. I love how well the glitter paper and glitter paste go together! The die cut hellos were stacked together and added onto the rose.

The second card is showing the big peony image from Peony Duo on black.

TT0605 2 2 WM

I silver heat embossed the big peony and the leaves on some watercolor cardstock and colored them using Color Burst. The peony was colored in Cerulean Blue, Indigo and Orchid and the leaves in Turquoise, Chartreuse and Lime Green. I then cut them all with coordinating dies.

TT0605 2 CU1 WM

To create the background I used black cardstock, which was cut using a Double Stitched Rectangle die, and black embossing paste. As the stencil I used die cut piece cut with Geo Mountain Coverplate Die B this time. I scattered glitter on the paste while it was still wet and let the panel dry.  The dried panel was mounted on a black cardbase. I then placed the peony flower and leaves on it.

The sentiment was cut with Hugs word die. I added die cut word from Glossy Fine Silver Adhesive glitter paper on the top.

Geo Mountain Coverplate Dies

Hello and welcome to The Ton’s blog! It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of cards made using Geo Mountain layering coverplate dies and new floral stamps from Spring release.

Geo Mountain Coverplate dies are designed to be used in layers. For today’s cards I used them separately as backdrops for my watercolored florals. I love that the panels cut with Geo Mountain coverplate dies look like traditional korean window or door frames and they go beautifully with the soft watercolored flowers.

On my first card I made a white on white background panel and small extra frame using Geo Mountain Coverplate dies  for my yellow dahlias.

The dahlias and leaves are from Large Dahlia1, 2, 3 and Wild Dahlias. The bud was borrowed from Coming Up Dahlias set. All pieces were white heat embossed on some watercolor paper and watercolored. I added some sparkle using yellow and orange glitter markers. I then cut them all using coordinating dies ( Large Dahlia1, 2, 3Wild DahliasComing Up Dahlias).

TT May1 CU1 WM

Geo Mountain Coverplate Die A was cut from a white cardstock and glued on a white cardbase. I cut another white cardstock panel using Geo Mountain Coverplate Die B and a frame using Double Stitched Square dies. I attached the die cut panel behind the  square frame and snipped off the extra piece to create the square mat for my dahlias. I blended a bit of Lemon Drop on it and foam mounted the square mat onto the card and arranged the flowers and leaves on it.

TT May1 CU3 WM

The gold heat embossed sentiment is from The Most Interesting Cardmaker. I added a thin strip of Gold Foil paper to the sentiment strip and foam mounted it onto the card. The finishing touch was Lemon Chiffon and Glass Slippers sequins.

The second card is featuring Geo Mountains Coverplate Die C and Nesting Peonies.

TT May2 2 WM

I cut Geo Mountains Coverplate Die C from some gray cardstock and adhered it on a white cardbase. I left some of the small pieces in their places.

TT May3 CU2 WM

The beautiful cluster of  Nesting Peonies was white heat embossed on some watercolor paper and watercolored. I used peyne’s gray for the leaves to match it to the background.

TT May2 CU1 WM

I then cut the image using coordinating die and foam mounted it onto the card. The sentiment from Toned Squares was white heat embossed on gray cardstock. I fussy cut it and added it to the card. I finished off the card by adding some sequins from Spotlight and Amethyst Quarts (small clear sequins).
