For today, I have two cards and videos to share! Let’s start!

blue magnolias

Photo taken against our 12x12in White Marble Backdrop Board

For my first card, I used our new Magnolia Fields cling background stamp.

I started off by rose gold heat embossing the stamp onto an A2 sized watercolor panel.  Next, I painted each magnolia a soft cerulean blue using Ken Oliver Color Bursts to give my florals a nice base color. Then I added three layers of shading to the larger magnolia images using my zig markers (No 36 Light Blue, No 31 Cobalt Blue, No 32 Persian Blue).

blue magnolias 1blue magnolias 2blue magnolias 3

For the smaller florals, I only added the first layer of shading.

blue magnolias 4

Once my florals were complete, I watercolored the background/negative space with a deep Prussian Blue color burst. As I set the panel aside to dry, I created my banner sentiment using our Basic Banners and coordinating die. I only partially embossed the banner because I knew I would be cutting off the right half of it. I didn’t want to use the entire banner because I wanted to change up the way I used this set.

blue magnolias 5

Prior to popping up my banner onto my painted panel, I added stitching to the edges of my painted panel using the largest die in our Double Stitched Rectangles (large) die set. Once the sentiment was popped up, I trimmed the excess which left me with a half banner with great interest. Then I added some shading with watercolor onto my banner to give it a bit of dimension. Lastly, I popped up my panel onto a side folding A2 card and then embellished it with 7mm and 5mm Clear Dew Drops.

nutcracker scene

For my next card, I created a festive scene using our Holiday Ballet set.

I started off by stamping my nutcracker and ballet figures on cardstock with our copic friendly Caviar Hybrid Ink. Then I colored everything in with copic markers. For my ballerinas, I added white gel pen stippling/dots to give their outfits a faux glitter finish. Then I cut my figures out with my electric cutting machine (although dies are available now, I did not have them at the time of making this card). I set my figures aside and proceeded to build my scene.

nutcracker scene 2

For my scene, I started off by stamping our Mountains on a horizontal A2 cardbase with our Pewter Collection Inks. Then I created a mask for my mountains and added shading (Miami Cool Dye Ink) behind them.  Next I stamped the second layer of our Mini Pine Tree multiple times across a separate piece of cardstock in our Everglade Moss Dye Ink.  Then I stamped the third layer of our Pine in our Hampton White Pigment Ink. I trimmed  my pine tree panel and fussy cut the top portion of my line of trees. Then I stamped the bottom portion of that panel with some more pigment ink so that I could heat emboss that area with white embossing powder for a snowy effect.

nutcracker scene 3

Once the heat embossing was finished, I stamped some trees from our Mountains set in our Noir Dye Ink behind my Pine Trees. Then I adhered my line of Pine Trees onto my mountain panel and then ran the entire panel through my big shot machine with the largest die in our double stitched rectangles to add stitching to the edges. Next I stamped the sentiment (Noir Dye Ink), snowflakes (Dusty Blues Collection) and tiny stars (Dusty Blues Collection) in the background. Once the scene was complete, I popped up my figures with dimensional foam tape.

Let’s get started with my projects for today!

anem bouquet hop.jpg

Photo taken against our Bokeh White Backdrop Board

For my first project, I heat embossed our Anemone Bouquet, Marvelous Perfumes and Haute Stacks with our Rose Gold embossing powder. Then I proceeded to watercolor! For my bouquet, I watercolored the image with Color Burst Powders (Peony, Sap Green and Lemon Yellow). I used Cerulean Blue Color Bursts for the vase/bottle and Turquoise and Sap Green for the books.

anem bouquet hop 2

After I finished watercoloring, I heat embossed the banner and sentiment in the same rose gold powder.  Then I added Prussian Blue watercolor shading to my banner. Once everything was colored, I die cut everything with their coordinating dies.

anem bouquet hop 3

Next I clear heat embossed our Anemone Garden background stamp onto navy cardstock. For a bit more interest, I added stitching to the edges with our Double Stitched Rectangles (large) die set. Lastly, I popped everything up onto my navy embossed panel and added our Clear Dew Drops around my bouquet in 7mm and 5mm sizes.

mountain hop

Photo taken against our Gray Stone Backdrop Board

For my next card, I created a sunset mountain scene with florals in the foreground.  I started off by stamping our new layered Mountains set with our Crystal Pewter Collection Inks. Then I fussy cut the mountain – at the time of the video, I had to fussy cut because I did not have the dies yet but they are available now!

Next I heat embossed two Summer Blooms in our Rose Gold embossing powder and watercolored them with Color Bursts (Peony, Gamboge/Marigold and Sap Green/Prussian Blue).  Next I die cut the florals using the coordinating die.

mountain hop 3

Then I watercolored my sunset on separate watercolor paper.  I used Gamboge, Cerulean Blue and Prussian Blue Color Bursts. I had to make sure I didn’t blend the Gamboge and Cerulean Blue too much because I did not want a green sky.

After my sky was completely dried, I ended up trimming the top of my sky panel because there was not enough of the golden portion of the sunset peeking through the mountains. After I trimmed the sky, I added blended some True Navy Dye Ink to the top edge of the sky panel for more depth.  This gave me a nice gradation from gold to deep blue.

mountain hop 2

Then I assembled my card by adhering the sky panel onto a heavyweight cardbase. I used our strong Double Sided Adhesive since my sky panel warped after I applied my heat gun to it to speed up the drying process. Next I popped up the mountain with a single layer of foam tape. I then popped the peonies up with a double layer of foam tape. Then I trimmed all the excess floral bits from the edges of my card. I finalized my card by adding Glass Slippers sequins for shine.

tropical wildflowers

For my card today, I went all out with our new wildflower stamps: Wishful Wildflowers,  Wildflower Banner and Modern Labels.

I started off by gold heat embossing the four corners of my card panel with the large floral portion of the Wildflower Banner stamp.  Then I heat embossed the individual blooms from our Wishful Wildflowers in the same gold powder. Next I colored in all the blooms with the same yellow and orange zig markers (50 Yellow, 52 Bright Yellow, 57 Orange). For my foliage I chose a minty green (No 45 Pale Green) which gave it more of a tropical look (which was not something that I was expecting but was pleasantly surprised at).

tropical wildflowers2

Next I heat embossed my Modern Label and sentiment.  When all the embossing and coloring was complete, I die cut everything with their coordinating dies.  Before I assembled everything onto my panel, I added stitching to the edges of my colored panel using the largest die from our Double Stitched Rectangles die (large) set. Then I popped up the label in the center of my colored panel and then created clusters with my individual wildflowers at the top and bottom edges of my label.

pretty mail peonies

For my next two cards, I white heat embossed our Peony Crush background stamp on a watercolor panel and watercolored with color bursts. However my technique for the card shown on the right utilized a different technique.  My video shows how I made the card on the right.

For the card shown on the right: After I heat embossed the background image,  I started painting the peonies with my color burst powders. I started off by wetting the area I was planning on painting on first with water. Then I dropped a little bit of color (Peony color burst) onto the wet areas.

pretty mail peonies3

Once I finished watercoloring my panel, I set it aside to dry. While that was drying, I white heat embossed my You’ve Got sentiment (from our new Mini Mail set) onto black cardstock and then cut it out to create a sentiment panel. Next I used our Pretty Mail word plate to die cut the bottom portion of my panel.

pretty mail peonies2

Next I adhered some Turquoise Foil Adhesive Paper underneath the window onto a cardbase and then adhered the watercolor panel onto the base with our strong double sided adhesive.  I popped up my black sentiment piece above my die cut Pretty Mail and that completes my card!

That’s all from me today! I hope you enjoyed my cards and hope you’ll hop along with us. Before you leave here, this is a reminder that there are more giveaways today!

suzybday

For my birthday card to Suzy, I created a one layer, springy and bright card using our Brushed Cheers and Fresh Cut Garden Rose stamp set.

I started off by stamping the large cheers sentiment in our Valentine Red Dye Ink onto a top folding A2 sized cardbase.  Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the same Brushed Cheers set in our Noir Dye Ink.  I added some glitter to the large Cheers sentiment using some clear wink of stella.

suzybday3

Next I stamped some some three layer roses and foliage near the bottom edge of my card base using our Ruby and Crystal Garden Collection Inks. I stamped additional roses and foliage and then die cut them using the coordinating dies. I arranged and popped them up at the bottom edge of the card base. I made sure to leave some of the background roses visible for additional depth.

suzybday2Lastly I stamped a simple birthday sentiment (in our Noir ink) inside the card using our Basic Sentiment set.

Our Fresh Cut Poppies is the newest floral layering set in our collection and it’s one of my favorites in this new release.  Our Fresh Cut series sets come with several three layer floral stamps featuring a different angle or blooming stage of the flower.  Each Fresh Cut set also comes with a uniquely shaped vase.  The best thing about our Fresh Cut florals is that they coordinate well together – I wanted to create a series where you could create a mixed floral bouquet/centerpiece!

However for today’s card, I kept the spotlight on our poppies!

screen-shot-2017-01-02-at-4-12-40-pm

Fresh Cut Poppies Layering Guide

I started by stamping all of my floral elements.  For the open/full faced poppy, I stamped three of these flowers in our Coral Cavern, Lipstick Red and Dark Roast Dye Inks.  I stamped the third layer first in our Dark Roast. Then I stamped the Coral Cavern over that layer (and then the Lipstick Red). When I stamped the layers in this order, the Dark Roast took on a dark red hue which was the perfect third layer shade for this poppy.  I wanted the inner petals on this poppy to have more defined shading to it.

poppy-hop3

For the other two poppies, I stamped them in our Coral Cavern, Lipstick Red and Aspen Cocoa.  There is a smoother transition with the layers when using this color combination which is what I wanted for the smaller poppies in this set.  Next, I stamped all the greenery using our Crystal Garden Collection Inks. For the yellows and black hues in my bouquet, I used our Beach Blondie and Noir Dye inks.  After everything was stamped out, I cut all the elements out with my cutting machine. If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can fussy cut! Coordinating dies for this set will be release soon though!

Next I took an A2 sized card panel an added stitching to the edges with the largest die in our Double Stitched Rectangles.  I stamped additional leaves onto the panel around the right, left and top edges – the background leaves will add some more depth to the finished bouquet. I stamped the vase in our Blue Diamond ink which is a soft blue ink. Next I stamped the stems in our Soft Garden and Bright Fern Inks. Once this was finished, I assembled my florals, buds and leaves onto my panel with foam tape.

poppy-hop2

Once I finished my floral arrangement, I heat embossed the sentiment using our Rose Gold Embossing Powder. For my finishing touches, I added 7mm and 5mm Dew Drops.

So Suzy Stamps & The Ton Collaboration Hop Day 3

15126127_10103101339148299_259341326_o-png

Hello and welcome back to the final day of our fabulous Collaboration Hop with So Suzy Stamps! I enjoyed this collab so much that I made two cards for today!

suzy-day-3

For my first card, I made a fun scene card using our City Girls: Retail Therapy and Department Store stamps and Suzy’s Street Lamp and Herb 1 stamps.

I started off by stamping the background Dept. Store stamp in our Noir Dye ink on an A2 sized card panel.  I set that aside and stamped the elements for my scene from our Retail Therapy set. After I stamped all the ladies, pup, cab and accessories, I colored them in with zig markers and die cut them using their coordinating dies.  Then I watered down some of my zig markers to color in the Dept. Store background. I chose a more muted background because I didn’t want to take away from the hustle and bustle of the scene.

Zig markers used (available individually here): No 51 Lemon Yellow, No 50 Yellow, No 91 Light Gray, No 36 Light Blue, Black Zig Marker, No 20 Red, No 24 Wine Red, No 62 Dark Brown, No 71 Flesh, No 72 Beige, No 64 Oatmeal, No 92 Blue Gray, No 37 Cornflower Blue, No 42 Turquoise Green, No 202 Peach Pink, No 81 Light Violet, No 70 Orange, No 45 Pale Green, No 83 Lilac

suzy-day-3-3

Next I gold glitter heat embossed the lamp on a separate card panel and used my Scan N Cut to cut out the lamp.  Before I put the scene together, I gold glitter heat embossed the gorgeous leafy Herb 1 stamp on the top portion of my Dept. Store panel.  I LOVE the effect it has on the scene!  The falling foliage gave it more depth and life to the project.

suzy-day-3-2

Next I adhered the Dept. Store panel onto a side folding A2 card base and then assembled my scene by popping up all the elements (except the cab) with some dimensional foam tape. Lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder on black cardstock and adhered it onto my card.

suzy-day-3-4

My next card is more simple but just as fun!  I used the same City Girls: Retail Therapy set and paired it with Suzy’s festive scripty Celebrate sentiment.  Our Retail Therapy set might be one of my favorites from the last release.  The image with the girl holding all of the boxes and bags is so comical and I know some of you guys can relate!

I started off by stamping the gal with the boxes in our Noir Dye Ink. Then I took the same stamp and stamped only the boxes along the bottom edge of my card panel so that it looked like she was surround by boxes and boxes of fabulous shopping finds.  After I stamped the box piles, I stamped the shopping bags and the adorable pup.

Next I stamped the Celebrate stamp next to our gal.  This Celebrate stamp is something that I will be keeping on my desk as a go to. For the You Deserve It portion of the sentiment, I simply curved the end of it on my acrylic block so that it would curve alongside the end curve of the Celebrate sentiment.  I chose not to color the panel as I enjoyed the monochrome look to the card. To finish the card, I adhered some of our new Silver Holographic sequins.

Thank you all so much for stopping by Day 3 of So Suzy and The Ton’s Collaboration Hop! I really enjoyed creating with So Suzy’s stamps! Her images are beautiful and work well as collaborative stamps as well as standalone stamps.

There are giveaways! A $25 GC So Suzy Stamps, $25 The Ton and a fabulous Bunkie Bag that can hold your MISTI and other stamping supplies while you’re on the go!  Leave a comment on the blogs from Day 1 of the hop by November 24, 11:59PM EST.  Winners will be announced on November 25th in time for some Black Friday Shopping!

Make sure to leave a comment on our Day 1 post (and the hop participant blogs from that day) as that is where the giveaways will be drawn from. Some of our design team members have posts for you today as well so check out their projects for more inspiration!

Chibitronics Collaboration Blog Hop

  5. Mayline

Giveaway:  Chibitronics has graciously given us one starter kit to giveaway to a lucky commenter. To qualify, you must leave a comment on each blog. The comment period will end on Saturday, July 2 at 11:59 pm EST and a winner will be announced on thereafter.

chibi panda.jpg

For my card today, I created a light up panda card using our Panda Can’t Even set and Chibitronics Starter Kit.

First, I stamped the panda from our Panda Can’t Even set in our Noir Dye Ink.  Then I gold heat embossed the sentiment from our Like a Boss set with some gold glitter embossing powder.  Next I heat embossed and stamped the sparklers in the panda’s outstretched arms.  After I stamped and embossed additional bursts from the Sparklers Alpha set, I blended some Lofty Mint dye ink (with Clarity Brushes) at the top and base of my panel to create some interest.  The stunnah shades are from our Scheduled set which I stamped in our Hot Tourmaline ink.

Next I created a blinking slide switch circuit for the light up aspect of my card.  The trick to using this kit is to match up the positives and negatives (in a nutshell).  The kit comes with a great sketch book or activity book that’ll get you ready to start crafting with these lights in no time.  The kit is so easy to use (and fun too!) and the instructions are so easy to follow.

I decided to go for a blinking slide light up card because I thought that the flickering lights would look more like sparklers.

chibi panda2

For a more in depth explanation or depiction of the circuit that I created, check out the video above. I just love the twinkling

I had so much fun making this card!  Creating with Chibitronics’ product was so refreshing and unique to cardmaking.  I hope you were inspired by my card and video today! Your next stop on our Chibitronics Collaboration Hop is Vera.

Don’t forget to leave a comment below (and on the other stops) for a chance to win an awesome Starter Pack from Chibitronics!

So for today, I made two cards to celebrate our Summer 2016 Release.

hop stacks

First up is my faux watercolored art print card created with our new Haute Stacks.  This set might be my favorite of this entire release!  I achieved the watercolor look by first inking up my stamp with the distress ink, spritzed some water and stamped on my watercolor panel.  Then I took a water brush and proceeded to blend the color.  I did this for each layer and for the stack of books.  For my peonies, I used Spun Sugar for my first layer, Abandoned Coral for the second and Fired Brick for the third layer.

After I finished stamping my stack of books with a gray distress ink, I added some additional shading to some of the books with black watercolor paint.  This gave the card the more artsy feel that I was aiming for.  Next I die cut my panel using the largest die in our Double Stitched Rectangle dies.  I finished the card by adhering some Glass Slippers sequins.

For my next card, I created a shaker using our new Vogue Skies set and our Pyrotechnics set.

I started off by blending my card panel with our Cali Blue Dye Ink, Azurite Dye Ink and Soft Amethyst Dye ink.  Then I heat embossed the fireworks display with our Rose Gold embossing powder and a silver glitter embossing powder.
hop cityNext I stamped the skyline at the base of my panel with our Noir Dye ink. I then stamped the Statue of Liberty and sentiment from our Vogue Skies over my skyline.  Next I created a black border frame using the two largest dies from our Double Stitched Rectangle dies.  This would serve as my shaker window.  After I adhered the acetate under the frame, I filled up the window with our new Black Tie Affair Couture Mix. The card was complete after I closed up the window.

We also have some giveaways to celebrate our hop: Four $25 gift certificates will be given away to random commenters.  You must comment on each hop participant blog to qualify for the giveaway. The comment period will close on Saturday, June 18 at 11:59pm. Winners will be announced thereafter.

Thanks for checking out our hop post for today!  Your next stop is Vera.  Be sure to check out all of the other stops on the blog for some amazing inspiration for our Summer 2016 Release!

World Cardmaking Day 2015 Blog Hop, Challenge and Giveaways

wcmd1

Hello and welcome to The Ton’s first ever World Cardmaking Day post!  Since this is our first year, we really wanted to take part in this worldwide event.  I read on the official WCMD site that this day kicks off holiday card making season and that is why I chose Holiday Cards as the theme for our design team blog hop today.  The order of the hop is as follows:

  1. The Season – The Ton <— You are here!
  2. Mayline
  3. Jess
  4. Ruby

We have some fabulous giveaways for this hop: Four $25 gift codes to our shop.  To qualify for the giveaways, you must leave a comment on each stop on the hop. You have until Wednesday, October 7, 12PM (EST) to leave a comment.  Winners will be announced thereafter.

In addition to our design team hop, we have our first ever World Cardmaking Day Project Challenge (with several gift code prizes)!  Please see the details below our Blog Hop post!!

For my first card for our DT Blog Hop today, I created a Christmas Card using our Shoe Wardrobe Solid (First Edition) stamp set and Holiday Bows stamp set (with coordinating dies).  I wanted to use non holiday sets to create my cards for today.  Here is a video on how I made this card!

I kept the card very clean and simple and chose not include a sentiment for a stark and sophisticated look.

wcmd3My next card was a bit more involved because I wanted to create a snowy look but I did not have any snow.  I know there are several snow pens/markers on the market right now but I just did not purchase one because I did not think I would be using it much.  For this card, I wanted to place the Ugg boots (Shoe Wardrobe Solid 2d. Ed.)in a snow bank with the appropriate “Dashing Through the Snow” sentiment from our Holiday Lyrics set.  I just used some glitter embossing powder to cover the tips of the Uggs to create a snow bank effect.

I embossed the sentiment over the embossed snow bank (very cool technique to try). Then I finished off the card by adhering individual mini gold stars over the front of the card.  Here is a video on how I created this card.

Thanks for stopping! Your next stop on the hop is Mayline! Make sure you leave a comment here (and on the rest of the hop stops) to qualify to win one of four $25 gift codes to our shop!

I have two cards to share with you today. Effie designed the coffee cup and the two sentiments for me to use on the cards for this special event.

For the first card, I used the cup to create a background that I printed and cut to 4″ x 5.25″. I used Copic markers to color all the cups. I attached it to a white card base with foam tape and added the sentiment, too. Since I wanted to show off all the bright colors, I kept the background as the main focus.

These are the colors I used:

Pink: RV17, V05, RV52
Yellow: Y19, Y08, Y04
Blue: BG05, B02, B01
Green: YG07, YG05, YG01
Brown: E29, E25, E35, E33, E53, E51
Gray: C0
and 0 Colorless Blender

For the second card, I used Hey Foxy and the Changing Leaves Couture Mix since it is a fall-themed Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

I stamped the two fox and colored them with Copic markers and stamped some of the hearts between them. I printed out the sentiment and a coffee cup, which I colored with Copic markers and fussy cut. I matted it down above the hearts with some foam tape. I added the sentiment below the fox and added beads from the couture mix to imitate fall leaves.

That’s about it for me. Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to link up a fall-theme coffee or tea card to the blog hop for your chance to win one of the MANY prizes, including the three $10 gift certificates to The Ton. Enjoy all the inspiration!
