Happy Valentine’s Day

Good morning, friends! Emily here today to share a few post-Valentine’s Day projects with you.

I didn’t get to use the Love Defined during the anniversary festivities last month, and there was one sentiment that particularly struck a chord with me: “Someone who knows your coffee order.” In our tiny town, we have a charming little coffee shop, and my hubby and I always have the same order, a creme brulee latte with a cranberry orange muffin. As awful as my hubby’s memory can be, he somehow is able to remember the proper size, flavor, and nonfat milk of my coffee. That’s love, right there. ūüôā

Anyway, to make this card, I started by heat embossing the coffee cup from Tea Party in gold embossing powder on watercolor card stock. As this was going to be my valentine to him, I thought it only appropriate to make it red. I colored it with my Zig Clean Color markers, paintbrush, and water. The heart-shaped steam was stamped with a light gray ink, then added a bit of pale gray Zig shading to make it stand out a bit more. The “steam” was embellished with a white Wink of Stella. (The white WoS has a lovely, creamy warmth to it, much more so than the clear; I encourage you to try it. I love the effect it has!) The sentiment, from Love Defined, was embossed in gold as well, and the panel was embellished with a few sequins. I popped it up on a red card base and called it good. (Men don’t need lots of embellishment, in my view. Sparkles were pushing it far enough….)

My next card utilizes the new glitter tapes that The Ton has recently started stocking… They’re super super sparkly and so thin, which makes them a breeze to die cut. I simply placed my black cardstock panel on a gridded mat on the diagonal, then used the markings on the mat to place my tape (in ROYGBIV order) every 1/2 inch. I then die cut a large scalloped rectangular panel from the colorful, glittery, custom patterned paper I created. I thought this beautiful plaid-ish background didn’t need too much to distract from it, so I merely cut an oval from more black card stock, embossed the fabulous sentiment from Like a Boss in gold, and popped it up on the front with pop dots. A few Glass Slippers sequins (an amazingly versatile neutral that I use on basically every project) finished it off. I have a very specific recipient in mind for this card, and I hope she won’t mind my sharing it here, first. ūüôā ¬†Love these sentiments for our crafty friends!

My final project for today is using that drop-dead-gorgeous gown from Haute Wedding Dress. I received a set of Dr. Ph Martin’s Hydrus watercolors for Valentine’s Day and absolutely HAD to play with them using this incredible image. I heat embossed the image in white pearl embossing powder onto Arches Cold Press watercolor paper, then watercolored the dress using Quinacridone Violet (I have absolutely no idea what “quinacridone” means, but I feel really smart when I say it!! haha!!!). The skin and hair were done using my Zigs, as I’m still in the learning process with my Ph Martin’s and haven’t gotten the exact hang of mixing and shading the colors, so I went with what I know. I colored in the background using the wet-on-wet method, first wetting the cardstock where I wanted there to be color, then dropping in the color. Again, still learning with these colors, so I didn’t get quite the bloom I wanted, but I was still pleased with the fade of color in the turquoise background.

I heat embossed the sentiment from Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Edition Solid using black Versafine and clear embossing powder. I wanted to make a valentine for a dear friend of mine, and so wanted to make it as sparkly and girly as possible, which obviously made me think “shaker!!” Using the new adhesive glitter papers made making this shaker a bit less tedious, because I was able to simply die cut my frame, peel off the release paper, and adhere it to my acetate. I filled my shaker with a variety of sequins from The Ton’s incredible line of Gilding, including Glass Slippers, Smoked Amethyst, Queens Pink, Pink Pearl Flora, and Crystal Flora, as well as Diamond seed beads. The final touch was a few blooms, from Wild Morning Glories, heat embossed and watercolored with the same process as the dress, dripping from the corner.

I hope you’ve got some inspiration for those gorgeous foil tapes from The Ton! I am loving having sparkles so quickly and easily added to my projects. Have a fantastic week, friends!

Video: You’re Fancy Shoes

you're fancy shoes

Hello everyone! To keep up with one of my resolutions, here is a quick video and blog post today of a card I made using our Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. Outline stamp set.

First I stamped the Valentino shoe stamp repeatedly across the card panel. To make sure I stamped them straight, I started off by stamping the first shoe in the center of the panel.  Then I took a pencil and drew a straight line right under it so I could stamp the rest of the shoes in straight line (or as straight as I could get it).  Then I stamped the same shoes repeatedly to create an amazing background of couture shoes.  Since I knew I would be coloring these shoes with copic markers, I used our new Caviar Hybrid Ink which is copic friendly and fabulous.

I used seven different copic markers to color in each of the shoes. I used the same seven in each line but colored each randomly. ¬†In the midst of coloring, my purple marker exploded (insert sad face) and created a blog along one of the shoes. ¬†I decided to cover it up with a well placed sentiment (an 8mm or 10mm sequin would have sufficed). ¬†I took the “You’re Fancy” sentiment from the same set and heat embossed it using gold glitter embossing powder on some tan cardstock. ¬†I fussy cut the sentiment and popped it up in the middle of the card panel and over the offending blob.

Then I trimmed the card panel about a 1/4 of an inch on both sides.  I took an A2 side folding card base and adhered some floral gold foil washi tape on the sides. Then I adhered the card panel onto the base and that finished up the card!

Screen Shot 2015-12-26 at 2.32.02 AM We have a lot inspiration and videos coming this week since our Anniversary Release is kicking off tomorrow.  We have 17 new stamps and other products coming your way to celebrate our one year anniversary.  We also have an amazing blog hop on Friday featuring our talented design team and special guests.  Thanks for stopping by everyone and I hope to see you all tomorrow!

Video: You’re Fancy with Mini Wild Florals

fancy wild florals¬†Hello everyone and Happy New Year! ¬†I hope you’re enjoying the tail end of the holidays!

I wanted to start off the new with some resolutions (that I HOPE to keep). ¬†One of them was to post regular Youtube Videos on the cards I created. ¬†These videos will be posted every weekend on either Saturday or Sunday. ¬†I hope you’ll join me each week!!

For today’s ¬†video, I made a card using our Mini Wild Florals set and our new Couture Color Inks.

I started off by stamping the sentiment from our Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. set in our Rose Gold Bangle Pigment Ink. ¬†I love this sentiment because it’s a bit sassy! ¬†Then I started stamping the different ferns and greenery from the Mini Wild Florals with our Lofty Mint Dye Ink which is our ¬†lightest ink in the Minted Collection. ¬†I stamped the greenery in five different points on the panel with the greenery radiating from the 5 different centers. ¬†I stamped between 4-5 different ferns in the Lofty Mint.

Then I stamped between 2-3 ferns in our Bright Emerald Dye Ink (our mid-tone mint ink) and an additional 2-3 ferns¬†in our Hot Tourmaline Dye Ink (our darkest mint ink). ¬†For the darkest of our greens, I chose the smallest ferns in the set so I didn’t overpower the card. ¬†By keeping the darkest of the ferns to a minimum, I kept the focus on the entire card as a whole. ¬†This card was a bit more involved because of the different “layers” of greenery that I stamped. ¬†I love the depth of the card achieved by the different shades of¬†mint.

fancy wild florals2

Then I heat embossed the five outline florals in the set with some gold glitter embossing powder.  I colored in the florals with three different zig markers blending each layer.  After I finished the coloring, I die cut each floral and popped them up along the five radial points on the stamped panel.

Lastly, I took the spray of dots stamp in the Mini Wild Florals set and stamped it randomly among the greenery with our Rose Gold ink to bring the entire card together.  I hoped you enjoyed the video and post for today!

Make sure you’re following our social media accounts because we’re posting sneak peeks all week of our Anniversary Release. ¬†It’s going to be a big release with tons of inspiration so you don’t want to miss it!

Keep Calm and Buy Shoes

Hi, Rubeena here with some shoe-spiration! ūüėČ If you love shoes, then these cards (and stamps) are for you! These were fun to make but did take me a while.

My first card is really basic. I wanted to create my own shoe background so I stamped one of the pairs from Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. Outline on white cardstock cut down to 4″ x 5.25″. I stamped the small layer in various light dye inks in no particular order. To finish it off, I die-cut the word ‘celebrate’ and some patterned banners.

image13 (1)

Next, I created a set of five cards with the same design. I first stamped and cut a lot of shoes from Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. Solid and Outline. I used Copic markers to color them in a combination of black, pink, and beige.

image5 (5)
I cut out five tags so that they looked similar to price tags (I even added perforations!) and stamped the sentiment from Shoe Wardrobe Filled. Next, I stamped one of the frames from Vintage Frames in the following format:

image3 (5)
I cut pieces from tissue paper to add to each “box.”

image7 (4)
Finally, I added foam tape to each pair of shoes and arranged them over the tissue paper so they could look gift boxes or gift bags. ūüôā

image10 (2)
I finished it off with some glossy accents on the shoes so they could look somewhat realistic. Who wouldn’t love these as gifts?!

I’ll end¬†with¬†showing off one of the cards:

I hope you enjoyed my post! Thank you for visiting and leaving me some feedback.

Have a great weekend.¬†ūüíē

Gold Peonies

*You have until noon EST today to leave comments on the World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop with The Ton for your chance to win a $25 gift code to the store! You can find more details on this post.

Rubeena here with a focus on Petal Cut Peonies Standalone Dies!

I created three elegant cards with a white, black, and gold combination. I die-cut some peonies and foliage with gold glitter cardstock and glued them onto white cardstock.

For the first card, I arranged them onto a white doily and white cardstock. The sentiment from Large Peony 3 was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed in white. I added a tiny clothespin (covered in black washi tape) on top and some pearl enamel dots next to the sentiment.

For the next card, I arranged one peony over a pink and gold doily. The sentiments from Princess Cut Diamonds were also stamped onto black cardstock and heat embossed in white.

For the last card, which might be my favorite, I cut black cardstock so that I could stamp the sentiment between them. The sentiment is from Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. Solid and stamped with VersaMark and heat set in gold. I added some splatters of gold from Finetec Pearl Watercolor Paint.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great week!

World Cardmaking Day 2015 Blog Hop, Challenge and Giveaways

Hello and welcome to The Ton’s first ever World Cardmaking Day post! ¬†Since this is our first year, we really wanted to take part in this worldwide event. ¬†I read on the official WCMD site that this day kicks off holiday card making season and¬†that is why I chose Holiday Cards as the theme for our design team blog hop today. ¬†The order of the hop is as follows:

In addition to our design team hop, we have our first ever World Cardmaking Day Project Challenge (with several gift code prizes)!  Please see the details below our Blog Hop post!!

For my first card for our DT Blog Hop today, I created a Christmas Card using our Shoe Wardrobe Solid (First Edition) stamp set and Holiday Bows stamp set (with coordinating dies).  I wanted to use non holiday sets to create my cards for today.  Here is a video on how I made this card!

I kept the card very clean and simple and chose not include a sentiment for a stark and sophisticated look.

wcmd3My next card was a bit more involved because I wanted to create a snowy look but I did not have any snow. ¬†I know there are several snow pens/markers on the market right now but I just did not purchase one because I did not think I would be using it much. ¬†For this card, I wanted to place the Ugg boots¬†(Shoe Wardrobe Solid 2d. Ed.)in a snow bank with the appropriate “Dashing Through the Snow” sentiment from our Holiday Lyrics set. ¬†I just used some glitter embossing powder to cover the tips of the Uggs to create a snow bank effect.

I embossed the sentiment over the embossed snow bank (very cool technique to try). Then I finished off the card by adhering individual mini gold stars over the front of the card.  Here is a video on how I created this card.

Thanks for stopping! Your next stop on the hop is Mayline! Make sure you leave a comment here (and on the rest of the hop stops) to qualify to win one of four $25 gift codes to our shop!

Who Gives a Fox

Rubeena here with a focus on Hey Foxy! I have two watercolored scenes to share with you.

For the first one, the fox is alone and super adorable. I watercolored him using distress inks. I stamped the sentiment from Shoe Wardrobe 2d. Ed. Solid (masking off the first line). I die-cut a piece of white cardstock for some clouds and used foam tape for dimension.

For the second one, I had to stamp two foxes in love! These were also watercolored with distress inks. I used the cloud negative to ink up the top of the card with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It gives it a subtle cloud look. The banner and sentiments were stamped on white cardstock, fussy cut and added above the fox with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by today. Stay fabulous, friends.

Hello Friend

Good morning and Happy Monday!  Jessica here with a tag card featuring Wild Peonies (and a few other stamp sets!)!

To create this card I started off by stamping the leaves and flowers from Wild Peonies onto a white die-cut tag.  I colored the peonies with copic markers and added a little wink of stella.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Shoe Wardrobe 2nd Edition Solid with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.

For the card base I stamped the peonies and greenery from Wild Peonies and Mini Wild Florals onto red cardstock with versamark ink and heat-embossed them with clear powder for a tone on tone look.  Then I added some dots from Pyrotechnics and heat-embossed those with gold embossing powder to match the sentiment.

I adhered the tag with foam mounting tape and threaded a gold ribbon and twine through the top of the tag.  To finish the card I added a sprinkling of Medallion Gold and Call Me Maybe sequins across the card and mounted the panel to a side-folding white cardstock base.

Thanks so much for visiting and don’t forget to head over to The Ton to pick up some of the brand new couture mixes that will be released today!

You’re Fancy!

Good morning! ¬†Jessica here with a card featuring stamps from our Shoe Wardrobe collection and gilding from our newest mid-summer release! ¬†Here’s my card!

I recently created my very first card tutorial video and I had so much fun that I decided to try it again!

I apologize for the loss of footage mid-way through the video…I guess I’ll finally have to delete some of the hundreds of kitten and dog photos on my iPhone! ūüėČ ¬†As promised here is a list of the beads I used on my card:

And the sentiment was from Shoe Wardrobe 2nd ed. Outline and the pair of shoes was from Shoe Wardrobe Solid! ¬†Here’s a close-up of those gorgeous gems and beads:

I hope you enjoyed my card and video!  Thanks so much for visiting and see you next week!
