Poppy Hugs

Hi all. Vera here today, bringing you mid week inspiration on behalf of The Ton.

For today’s project, I am showcasing the pretty Poppy Smiles set.

For this card, I started by stamping & heat embossing the image with Rose Gold embossing powder on a piece of watercolor cardstock. Watercolored the flowers and let dry. Once dry, die cut the flower using the coordinating Poppy Smiles dies.

Next, I die-cut the scalloped frame using Slimline Scalloped Nested Dies. On hindsight, yes, I could make my life easier by die-cutting the scalloped frame using the Scalloped A2 Nested Dies, but in all honesty, my craft room right now looks like storm blew through it. Hah… I know this dies set is somewhere on my desk, but instead of spending time looking for it, I just reached for the Slimline set since it’s handy and just be creative and use it to create shorter frame to fit my card.

Then, using the dies as mask, I ink blend some Lemon Drop ink on the frame.

For the sentiment, I die cut the letters using Skinny Alphas Coverplate dies and layered them 3 times to make it stand out more. Then I stamped the sentiment “Sending You” from Poppy Smiles set (the stamp actually said Sending You A and I just trimmed the A out).

To finish, I added some dew drops and added some white dots to the flowers. Oh, in case you’re wondering why the flowers on the finished card look darker than the one in progress shown, it’s because I went back and add another layer of watercolor after I adhere the flowers to the card. I just thought it needs deeper color.

Well peeps, that’s all for me today. Hope you enjoy today’s project and stay tune for a flash release this Friday. Effie really been cranking up some gorgeous sets and we can’t wait to share them with you. Big virtual hugs!!
