Hello everyone ! It’s TaeEun here today sharing a couple of cards made using new dies from our June 2020 Release. The Ton has released eight unique new die sets along with a new grouped layering floral stamp: Poppy Wishes. For today’s card I used the gorgeous Swallowtail Butterfly Layering dies and Lovely Peony Layering dies. They have been available as digital cut files on The Ton shop but now you can cut them without a cutting machine! The sentiments are from Many Sentiments die set.
For my butterfly card I chose a complementary color scheme: yellow – purple and made a simple card.
To start off I did a light watercolor wash on a mixed media paper panel in blue and purple using Gansai Tambi watercolor. I also added strokes of silver watercolor to the panel and let it dry. After the panel was dry I cut the detail layer of the swallowtail butterfly using the Swallowtail Butterfly Layering die set. The base layer was cut from a platinum vellum panel.
To create the background I colored a watercolor paper panel in yellow and splattered silver watercolor. After the panel was dry I cut it using the Double Pierced Rectangle A2 Coverplate Die.
I mounted the background flat on a gray cardbase except for the outermost frame which was foam mounted. I then added the butterfly to the card by adhering the body using foam adhesive.
The sentiment was cut using the Many Sentiments dies set. I cut the word hello four times from some white cardstock and the matching shadow from black cardstock. I stacked them all together and added it to the card after placing a nest of silver thread.
I finished off the card with some Glass Slippers sequins.
The next card is showing the Lovely Peony Layering dies! I love it! It looks so pretty when all assembled !!!
I watercolored a lightweight watercolor paper in several shades of pink and green to cut my peony layers. I mixed a little bit of orange to the pink to give the petals a more natural look.
I cut all the elements of Lovely Peony Layering dies and glued the layers together. To add more greenery to my arrangement I cut some leaves from watercolor paper which colored in light green using Leafy Bits coverplate die. Some of the leaves were cut from white cardstock.
I wanted to have another yellow background. I ink blended Lemon Drop and Peach Blossom on a white cardbase keeping the border white. After ink blending I stamped Bare Tones background. I stamped it first in Lemon Drop and stamped it again in Peach Blossom, this time after inking up only the center part of the stamp. The white frame was cut using Double Pierced Rectangle A2 Coverplate Die. I cut it two times and glued them together for some dimension. I added the frame and the leaves to the cardbase and foam mounted the peony on it. The sentiment and embellishment were done in the same way like the first card.
Hope you like my cards ! If you haven’t checked out our June 2020 Release, please click here !

Wishing you a day filled with kind words!

TaeEun, because you know me so well by now, I’m betting you’d think I’d choose the butterfly as my favorite today – am I right? SURPRISE! It’s this gorgeous peony – its perfect colors, and layers, and your fabulous background! OKAY, I love the Swallowtail, too! xx
