Coloring Cosmos Flowers

Hello everyone!

Hope your February is off to a great start ! Can you believe it’s already the first day of February?!!! Time goes by so fast!!! It’s TaeEun here today with two floral cards featuring our new Cosmos stamp sets, Today’s Cosmos and Smiling Cosmos. I’ve focused more on coloring than on the design itself this time 🙂 .

My first card is showcasing the gorgeous big floral cluster from Smiling Cosmos set.

I started off by stamping the cosmos cluster once on a watercolor paper panel and once more on Neenah solar white cardstock in copic friendly Caviar hybrid ink. I then colored the image on the Neenah solar white panel using Copic markers.  I used YR00, 04, 07 and 09 for the orange cosmos, Y06, 15 and 38 for the yellow ones, R20, 22 and 27 for the coral ones. I colored the leaves using YG 01, 05, 07 and 09.

On the watercolor panel I colored only the background using Color Burst (Turquoise and Chartreuse). I splattered clear water and dabbed it off and also added splatters of white opaque ink on the panel. After the panel was dry I cut it using the largest Double Stitched Rectangle die.

I mounted the watercolored background panel flat on a white cardbase. The Copic colored panel was cut in a narrow rectangle and foam mounted on the background panel. I then cut the hello from Adhesive Glitter paper Glossy fine silver and also from some white cardstock, stacked them all together and added onto the card. A few Glass Slippers sequins were my finishing touch.

For my second card I colored the Today’s Cosmos using Prismacolor colored pencils.

I’ve tried to create a cosmos flower field scene with two focused flowers. I stamped the cosmos flowers in Rose Quartz and the leaves in Vanilla Frosted Cupcake while masking when needed.

The coloring was done using Prismacolor colored pencils. Effie illustrated the folds on the petals and leaves of Today’s Cosmos and Smiling Cosmos set. So if you follow the lines and color the parts in various color tones, you can create different shades on the folds easily.

After the pencilcoloring was finished I added soft pink and green on the background. I scribbled Zig brush markers on a clear block, added lots of water and colored the background with it. After the watercolor was dry I blended Soft Garden on the bottom part of the panel and splattered white opaque ink on that area.

The sentiment is also from Today’s Cosmos set. I stamped it directly on the colored panel in Noir.

The panel was cut using Double Stitched Rectangle die to narrow down and foam mounted on a white cardbase. To finish off the card I scattered Glass Slippers Round Confetti sequins.

As you can see I had a blast coloring those beautiful cosmos flowers 🙂 !!! I hope you enjoyed looking my cards too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Both of these cards are really gorgeous. I especially like the technique you used on the Smiling Cosmos. So striking … I must find a way to try this idea.

Two fantastically coloured cards TaeEun and love the spotlight effect with the fully coloured rectangular layer, and just the background coloured on the under one, and then the pencil colouring on the second is so pretty, and soft watercolouring on the background. I especially love the green you have added at the bottom, so bright and springlike. x
