Hi there. Vera here on this lovely Sunday to bring you The Ton inspiration.
For today, I play with the lovely Butterfly Swirl Dies and came up with this card below.
I started by die-cutting the butterflies from a panel of cardstock. Then I traced some of the butterflies on my card base, just so I know where to add the colors. I used various of ink color including The Ton Arctic Sky, Soft Amethyst, and Peach Blossom.
My original plan is just to lay the die-cut panel on top of the rainbow colored background and that’s it. Well, that’d din’t quite go as I planned. When I laid the die-cut panel on top of the card base, I felt like it’s too plain, so am reaching to one of my all time favorite from The Ton, the Nesting Peonies set and stamped it on the panel to add more interest to the card.
Stamped the “Hello” sentiment from Peony Laurel set with Caviar ink and colored the letters with Copic (psst, this another great way to get different look from the same sentiment, by coloring the open space on the letter). Afterward I adhere the panel with pop up double side tape and ink up some of the die cut butterflies and adhered it to the card with pop-dots. Add some glossy liquid for texture.
Honestly, when I am done I wasn’t quite sure how I feel about the card. I am a CAS girl at heart, so this card is a bit outside my comfort zone. What I notice though, sometime that cards I really love only get so-so reaction and then the ones that I am not too crazy about get lots of likes. I almost ditch the card, but decided to ask a friend’s opinion who I know can be blunt & give me honest answer. When she said she loves it, I decided to go ahead and share this card after all.
Sometimes we can be our harshest critiques and I have to remind myself that part of creating is just enjoying the process. I did enjoy myself and had fun coloring and making this card and that’s just as important as the result. And, there’s nothing wrong to go ahead and share that result even if you yourself not so sure about it. 🙂
Well, I hope you like this card. That’s all from me today and may you have a fabulous Sunday. Cheers…..

I agree that we are often our own worst critics. I think your card tuened out great. The soft background stamping adds interest without distracting from the colourful butterflies.
