The Ton Summer Kick Off Blog Hop + Video and Giveaway

Hello and welcome to our Summer Kick Off Blog Hop!! While this hop is not specific to any theme, we wanted to host a special blog hop with our design team to show off some projects made with our products released in the last few months. We’ve had so many flash releases in the last few months that I wanted to finally organize a property blog hop with our team to show off some of our stamps and dies.

We have some giveaways for this hop! Be sure to scroll through this post for more details.

Let’s move on to my project!

For my card, I used our Nesting Peonies stamp set. This is the sweetest set ever! It features a beautiful peony tree cluster with a trio of adorable chickadees.

Nesting Peonies water

Nesting Peonies, 4×6 Photopolymer Set

I started off by stamping this beautiful cluster onto a piece of watercolor paper (Canson XL 140lb Paper) using our archival Noir Dye Ink. I stamped this image around the outer edges of my panel to create a border.

Next, I prepared my panel to do some wet in wet watercoloring. For this technique, you are merely adding wet watercolor paint to a wet portion of your watercolor paper. To prepare my panel, I used a #16 Filbert Brush (Blick Scholastic Wonder White) to apply a wash of clean water to my panel. Then I started dropping in my watercolor paint (Dr. Ph Martin’s Radiant Liquid Watercolor) using a Pentel Aqua Brush. I started off by dropping in bits/dots of Alpine Rose to one half of the panel. Then I took a second, clean waterbrush to loosely blend the color out.

Once I was satisfied with the amount of blending, I continued to add a wash of clean water to the unpainted portion of my panel. Then I repeated the process to add color to the other half of the panel. Once I finished adding my Alpine Rose hue, I added additional dots of Persimmon color to create two tone peonies. I blended this color out in the same manner as the Rose.  I made sure to confine most of the warm colors to the peony areas of my stamped panel however, this project consisted of loose watercoloring so I did not take much care to stay within the lines!

Next, I applied Sap Green and Juniper Green in the same manner to the leaves of my panel. *All watercolors are from Set A of the Radiant Collection.

Once I finished painting, I used my heat gun to dry the panel. Then I die cut the panel using the largest dies from our Double Stitched Rectangle Dies (large) collection to add stitching to the edges of my panel. Next, I white heat embossed our sentiment onto black cardstock. After I cut the sentiment into a strip, I created a corresponding Ribbed Soft Gold Glitter Adhesive Paper strip that I used behind my original sentiment strip. Then I stamped my chickadees onto some more watercolor paper, painted them and then die cut them using coordinating dies. I adhered everything onto a top folding A2 base. Lastly, I used our Medallion Gold sequins to brighten up the card even more.
