Good morning everyone!! Brenda, here today to share a Mother’s Day card with an awesome surprise inside!! Mother’s Day is just a few short days away!! My mom & I have a tradition of shopping for all the flowers for her yard every year. We did that on Monday, as the selection is always better before the actual rush of the holiday. She has also requested a few of my handmade cards. She is my biggest cheerleader and is always interested in what I have going on in my crafty life!! I knew I wanted her Mother’s Day card to be extra special, and this is what I made for her…

I began by stamping the Coming Up Dahlias image onto Bristol paper with Versamark, heat embossing with white embossing powder, then coloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I love the vibrant colors of these markers!! Next, the Coming Up Dahlias Coordinating Die was used to cut out the image. I used the same two pink markers that I used to color the flowers and watercolored a Bristol panel, using the darker color at the bottom and blending with water as I went up. This created a pretty ombre’ effect that matched my flower perfectly. For a little extra touch, the Delicate Pokla Dot Cling Background was stamped onto the background panel and heat embossed in white. The panel was trimmed slightly and adhered to an A2 size card base. The sentiment, also from Coming Up Dahlias, was white heat embossed onto a strip of black cardstock. The dahlia and sentiment strip was adhered to the background panel with foam adhesive. A few Glass Slippers Confetti Mix added a little bling!!

I wanted to make the inside of the card special too, so the Pop-Up Peony Standalone Die did exactly that…

The flowers and petals were cut from pink vellum, while the stamen and leaves were cut from regular white vellum. I used Copic markers to color the stamen yellow and the leaves green. Effie has a video HERE showing how easy this is to put together.

Isn’t this stunning?? Now I’m going to NEED to add this to the inside of more of my cards!!!
