Coloring using Layering Stamps

Hello everyone! And happy Friday!!!  🙂 It’s TaeEun here today with two carnation cards to share with you.

I love gorgeous layering stamps by The Ton. But I’m a coloring addict, as you may already know, and have to color even images from layering stamps 🙂 . For today’s cards I used the third layer of Large Florals: Carnation stamp set as my guide to color the carnations. The carnation on the first card was watercolored using Inktense pencils and the second carnation was colored using Prismacolor colored pencils.

Let’s take a look at my first card!

To start off I stamped the third layer of the Large Florals: Carnation in Picked Raspberry DI on some Bristol smooth paper. To define the outline of the flower I made a mask of the solid image, masked the flower and blended Crystal Pewter very light around the carnation flower. I then colored the flower using Inktense pencils. They are water soluble colored pencils, which are famous for their vibrant colors. First I drew the outlines of the petals in dark pink and added the darkest shade in the same color. I then blended the color out towards the tip of the petals using a wet brush. I added a little bit of red on some area. For the leaves I stamped the detail layer in green after masking the flower and colored them in blue and green. After the panel was dry, I fussy cut the carnation. The background panel was created by smooshing some green and blue Distress inks on mixed media paper. I added thin strips of Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver on both sides of the panel and glued it flat on the soft pink cardbase.

I then foam mounted a square frame, cut with Double Stitched Square dies from a silver glitter panel made using  Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver and added the flower using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from Penned Sentiments set. I white heat embossed it on a strip of black cardstock and added it onto the card. I used clear and Seaglass blue Dew Drops to embellish my card.

On my next card I used Black magic coloring technique (here gray magic? 🙂 ).

I chose a gray cardstock for my next carnation. To color on a gray panel I first stamped the solid image in Hampton white pigment ink. After the white pigment ink was dry I stamped the third layer in Soft Garnet on the solid image. With the third layer as my guide I sketched the outlines of the petals using dark pink Prismacolor pencil and then started to color the carnation. I colored the leaves in various cool gray pencils and added shades around the carnation in gray too. I then created a bokeh background using Hampton white pigment ink and circle stencils. I narrowed down the gray panel while leaving the leaves , adhered thin strips of Adhesive glitter paper-glossy fine silver on both sides and mounted the panel flat on the soft pink cardbase.

The sentiment from Penned Sentiments was white heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock. The other part of the sentiment was stamped in Hampton white pigment underneath the black sentiment strip. To finish off I scattered some sequins from New Year and Spotlight Couture Mix.
