Dimension & Sparkle

Hello everyone!! Brenda here with you today!! Thanks for joining me!! I can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of September!!

I have two cards to share with you today. Two things I love to create on my cards are dimension & sparkle. You can’t have too much of either, in my opinion!!

Majestic-Birthday-1

When I first saw the Waterfall stamp set, I immediately thought “that would pair so well with the Mountain set.” so, that’s exactly what I did!! I started by stamping the Mountains with Crystal Pewter, Smoky Quartz & Light Onyx Inks; then I used the Mountain Coordinating Die to cut right up against the stamped image (eliminating the white edge). Next, the water & waterfall were stamped with Cali BlueParisian Blue Inks, using white heat embossing in some areas. The rocks were stamped with Crystal Pewter & Smoky Quartz Inks.  I stamped the rocks next to the waterfall & a couple of other times onto a separate piece of cardstock. I fussy cut the waterfall & the other rocks, then inked the edges with Smoky Quartz, to accent the edges and make them stand out more. I used Cali Blue Ink to lightly stencil some clouds onto the card base. The sentiment is also from the Waterfall set and was stamped using Parisian Blue Ink. I layered all the images onto the card base, using up to three layers of dimensional adhesive. I LOVE all the dimension this added!! The mountains and rocks extending beyond the sides were then trimmed off evenly with the card base. Lastly, the birds from the Palm Tree set were stamped with Light Onyx Ink. These landscape background sets are the perfect solution to the problem I have with making masculine cards!!

My next card has so much sparkle that it was really difficult to photograph. It is really cool in person, but the sparkly background, metallic sequins, and the reflection off acetate had me pulling my hair out!!

Never-stop-Reaching-1

I began by heat embossing several of the images from Star Trails onto a dark blue panel with Stardust embossing powder. I used the Double Stitched Rectangle Die (Large) to cut a frame for the shaker. The cute, little Mini Pine Tree was stamped onto white cardstock with Bright FernDeep Emerald Inks, using white embossing powder for the final layer, before fussy cutting. I tore some white cardstock and coated with Ice Stickles to create a couple of snow drifts. The sentiment is from Star Trails and was white heat embossed onto a sheet of heat resistant acetate. Milky Way & New Year Couture Mixes were used to create the shaker bits. Tiny white stars from the Frosted Spearmint Couture Mix topped off the trees for the finishing touch!!

That’s it for me today!! I hope I have inspired you to add some dimension and sparkle to your next project!!

Oh, wait…I almost forgot!! You still have one more day to play along with the beautiful mood board for the September Challenge!! A $50 Gift Code to The Ton’s Shop is up for grabs!!!
