Video: Pink Magnolia Fields

Hi everyone, Effie here! For my project today, I created a pink watercolored Magnolia Fields card.

I started off by rose gold heating embossing the large image onto watercolor paper (Canson XL 140lb). Then I watercolored the blooms using Peony Color Bursts. Before I put any pigment down, I always wet the area I plan to paint with clean water.  Then I apply my color burst paint in tiny bit intervals because Color Bursts are extremely vibrant. When I paint in this fashion, I find that I get a better blend with my colors which gives me a nice base to add details.

After I apply my first bit of color, I use a second clean fine tip brush (that is slightly wet) to blend the pigment out. Occasionally, I will just flick my brush in short, quick upward strokes to add texture to my petals. If your paper is not wet enough, the strokes will will have more defined edges. If your paper is sufficiently wet, the strokes will blend away a bit. Both results are beautiful. I encourage you to practice and decide what style you prefer. You can also combine both techniques for more diversified results.

After I finished painting my blooms, I painted my branches with Merlot Color Bursts. I originally wanted to paint them with my Sepia Bursts but the Merlot bursts in my palette looked sepia. I only realized after I started putting the color down onto my panel that I used the wrong color. At this point, there was no turning back so I just colored the rest of the branches in Merlot and I thought the results came out just fine.  For my leaves, I used my Lime Color Burst and then Prussian Blue for the background. Once the watercoloring was complete, I set the panel aside to dry .

Next, I created my own glitter cardstock using our Blue Glitter Adhesive Paper. I simply adhered the paper onto cardstock and cut it into a strip that measured approximately 1in x 5.5 inches. Next, I white heat embossed my sentiment using our new Occasion Confetti set onto navy cardstock. This set features gorgeous large sentiments in a bold scripty font. Then I adhered the sentiment strip onto my glitter strip using Glue Dots. Then I adhered the whole thing onto my watercolored panel. Next I adhered my watercolored panel onto a top folding A2 cardbase. Lastly I added our Clear Dew Drops in 7mm and 5mm sizes to complete the card.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post and video! If you enjoyed the video, be sure to subscribe to our Youtube Channel because as I update it regularly each week.  Thanks for stopping by and making The Ton a part of your wonderful day!
