Hello there! Welcome back to The Ton Stamps blog, The Season. Janette here with you today to share a fall inspired Sunflower Bouquet. School is back in session and all of the sudden I’m dreaming of fall, cozy knits and all things pumpkin spice!
The Sunflower Bouquet stamp set screams summer, but by warming up the colors just a smidge, subtle fall comes into play. You can even take an unexpected route and go with blue like Erica did here for The Ton’s Summer themed challenge.
I created this card by stamping the Sunflower Bouquet on Bristol Smooth cardstock in Caviar Hybrid Ink. I then went on to color with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils in warm yellows, oranges and browns. Next, I added brush stokes with a water brush and clean clear water. Bristol Smooth paper works well for me, but do remember it isn’t exactly designed to be wet. The smooth surface gives a much cleaner stamping impression than watercolor paper, and that I love. Just take a few strokes here and there with water and move to a new area. Once an area is dry more strokes can be added without damaging the paper. Scrubbing or multiple strokes in a wet area will induce pilling. Patience is key! This entire image was wet at some point, just not at the same time.
Once the image was complete, I cut a narrow rectangle to each side of the stem and threaded for a wrapped with twine look. I partially die cut the corner of the panel and base to match for added detail with the Summer Bouquet Coordinating dies. I popped the panel with dimensional adhesive to an A2 folded card base. A few Summer Soiree sequins provide the necessary shimmer!
