Good morning! Emily here with you today with some totally random cards that don’t even remotely go together…. but inspiration struck, so I just went with it. I hope you don’t mind!

For my first project, I was inspired by one of my daughter’s new outfits for school. (They’re starting pre-k in a few weeks…. (wah!) so I’ve been stocking up on clothes. Why don’t they make big girl clothes as cute as little girl clothes???) We purchased a little outfit that had leggings with the prettiest yellow flowers on a gray  background. I thought “I can replicate that with the Fresh Cut Anemones!” And here’s the result!

I started by heat embossing my favorite background- Geometric Lattice Background– using white embossing powder onto some pale gray card stock. I used my blender tool and some Crystal Pewter ink to bring out the embossing on the bottom corner of the embossed panel. For the flowers, I used some yellow card stock from my stash (ahem, massive drawer packed FULL of colored card stock) to die cut the Fresh Cut Anemones. I wanted to do pale yellow anemones, but I am particular enough that I loathe the white edge when you stamp a solid image on white card stock and then layer on a colored background. Totally ruins the effect for me. So, I thought… what better reason to use my colored cardstock? I simply compensated for the lack of “edge” by stamping only the top two layers of the beautiful layered stamps from Fresh Cut Anemones using Vanilla Cupcake and Beach Blondie. I stamped the details in the center with Crystal Pewter and Caviar inks. I stamped the greeting from  Anemone Wishes on a strip of white card stock, then flagged the end. I popped all of the flowers in the corner with some dimensional adhesive, then added a few Shotgun Gray sequins to make the black of the centers pop even more.

For my second card, I decided to completely change gears and pull out the new Mermaid Vibes set. I couldn’t wait to put my Zigs to this pretty girl. I decided to create a “porthole” effect by doing some masking. To start, I cut a panel of A2 sized masking paper, adhered it to the front of the card, then die cut one of the stitched circle dies from the center. I then stamped the waves using Cali Blue and Azurite inks (I left off the top layer since it was primarily on the bottom where it wouldn’t be visible), then used my blending tool to lightly blend some Parisian Blue ink to create a sky. When I pulled the masking paper back, I had a perfectly round little vignette! Masking is like magic to me haha!

For the pretty mermaid, I stamped and heat embossed both the seated mermaid and her seashell throne onto some watercolor paper using silver embossing powder, then colored them both with my Zig markers and damp paintbrush. I added some shimmer to her tail with a Spectrum Noir shimmer pen and some Glossy Accents. I stamped the greeting from Mermaid Vibes on the card front using Caviar ink, then popped up the mermaid on her throne on the card front using some dimensional adhesive. The last step was to add some Pixie Pink sequins… I think they look kind of like bubbles!
