Summer time brings the heat and a house full of children for me here in Central California. As much as I love it, it can sometimes be chaotic. These days I am craving quiet, cool and simplicity. How would I describe that in color? Blues. Calm, relaxing, dreamy shades of azure.

This has definitely been the summer of mermaids, and I could have not been more excited when The Ton Stamps surprise released realistic mermaids!

The background of this card was created by wetting a large area of watercolor paper with heavily pigment saturated Daniel Smith watercolors, letting the edges of several shades of blue and teal merge together.

The mermaid was stamped in Caviar Hybrid Ink and colored on 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper with Copic markers. Fin: BG09, BG57, BG45, BG53, BG01. Skin: E35, E33, E31, E30, E000. Hair: E59, E49, E47, 0. Her fin is divine with 3 layers of Clear Wink of Stella!

The shell and fish were both Versamarked and heat embossed. The shell in Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder and the fish in Ranger Blue. I added a few Dew Drops as bubbles for the fishies. How could I resist?!? I accented each side of the panel with Bright Blue Adhesive Foil Paper. The ease of use and reflective quality was a perfect enhancement for this cool vibes card.

The shell I heat embossed and tucked behind the mermaid is the top portion from the bed above. After Versamarking and adding the powder I wiped away the powder from below the top portion of the shell with a fine paint brush. Then heat set. I fussy cut the image to suit my needs for this particular card. Stretching your stamps in new ways is always a good idea! This stamp set has so many options. I can’t wait to create more with it!
