Hello everyone and happy Friday! It’s Lisa here and today I have a new card to show you featuring The Ton’s newest released stamp set, Mermaid Vibes. I was so excited when Effie first showed me this stamp set. Mermaids are so fun and I have been watching and waiting for someone to create the perfect set to add to my stamp collection. Well, here they are!! There are so many stamps in this set that the possibilities are endless for creating gorgeous and colorful ocean scenes. There are also some really cute little mermaid themed sentiments that go well on any mermaid card.
For my card today I decided to bring my Mermaid to the surface by stamping and masking this mermaid image with Caviar ink and masking paper, then adding a group of three rock images for her to sit on. I also made sure to cover the rocks with some masks so that I could stamp the ocean waves behind her using Bright Emerald ink. I blended a mix of Lofty Mint and Bright Emerald to highlight the waves.
I brought out my Copic markers to color in this beautiful mermaid and the rocks after removing the masks. Did you know The Ton’s Caviar ink works great with Copics? I did some simple shading to give the images a little dimension. I also added a friend off in the distance by masking off a tail coming up out of the water. A light touch of a Zig, Wink of Stella glitter marker added the perfect amount of shine to the green tails and her little purple top.
Using a 3 3/4″ inch circle die I trimmed this scene down. On the bottom half of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base I stamped some more waves using Bright Emerald ink then popped up the circle scene with fun foam, being sure to line up the waves.
The sentiment I chose fit perfectly into one of The Ton’s Basic Banners stamps and coordinating dies. I also added The Ton’s Hello Word Die to accent the sentiment. I cut out four hellos from white cardstock then colored one using Copic markers that coordinated with my mermaid’s red hair. For some great dimension I glued all of these diecut hellos together to make a thick chipboard piece. Then I glued it to the top of the banner sentiment before placing it on the card with dimensional tape.
I tucked in a few little sequins from The Ton’s Glass Slippers Mix for some more sparkle and shine.
Well, that’s my card for today. I hope you are loving the Mermaid Vibes as much as I am! I’ll be spending some time in my craft room with my two little nieces this weekend, having some under the sea fun! They are super excited at the thought of stamping and coloring these beautiful mermaids.
Here’s hoping you get some time to play this weekend too. If you do, be sure to check out The Ton’s July challenge. You can enter your cards for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from The Ton. This month we have a beautiful mood board for inspiration!
Have a great weekend and happy stamping!
