Video: Watercolored Dahlia

Hello and welcome back! I have a watercolored Dahlia Close Up card for you today.

I started off by Rose Gold heat embossing our new dahlia stamp on a watercolor panel. Next I added turquoise watercolor paint to the embossed image. After I colored in most of the panel with the turquoise, I added touches of dark blue and purple paint along the inner petals of my dahlia. I made sure to drop in the blue and purple paint in the wet areas of the turquoise paint so that the colors would blend nicely. I also used my paintbrush to blend the colors together. For the paints, I used Winsor and Newton and Schminke watercolors. For my watercolor panel, I used Canson XL watercolor paper.

After I finished painting, I set the panel to dry. Next I heat embossed the large Brushed You sentiment in our Rose Gold Embossing powder. Then I stamped the Best Wishes portion of the sentiment on a separate white cardstock in our Noir Dye Ink. I trimmed it at an angle. I also created my own Rose Gold Foil cardstock with our Burnished Rose Gold Foil tape. I created a coordinating sentiment flag and adhered the sentiment onto the foiled flag.  Next I popped it up right over the embossed sentiment on my painted panel.

Next I hear embossed our new Freestyle Stripes in our Rose Gold embossing powder.  Then I put down a strip of Burnished Rose Gold Foil tape along the edge of the stripes. I then trimmed the watercolor panel about a 1/4 inch and then adhered it onto my striped panel. Next I adhered the entire panel onto a side folding A2 cardbase. I added some Seaglass and Clear Dew Drops to embellish the card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! See you next time!

Upon further reflection I REALLY love this card! I think I already commented that I loved it but it might’ve been early in the morning while walking my puppy and barely coherent! I love the added details of the burnished card stock and striped card stock – fine finishes 😁
