Mele kalikimaka!

Hello! Emily here with you today to share some tropical holiday inspiration. I know I can get sick of the same old red and green color combinations, so I thought I would mix it up a little and have some fun with blues, pinks, and mint greens today… It almost reminds me of a hokey tropical shirt, Christmas style. 🙂 Let’s move on to the details!

To start, I heat embossed the Poinsettia Garden background stamp onto some Bristol paper with The Ton’s Rose Gold Embossing Powder. I watercolored the card using my trusty Zig markers and a wet paintbrush, then set it aside to dry. I die cut a rectangular frame using the Stitched Rectangle dies and some Mint Green foil paper, covered the back with acetate, then added foam tape all around the edge for my shaker window.

For the greeting, I used this gorgeous and classy sentiment from Mistletoe Kisses, stamped once in Red Sangria ink, then again (with the help of my MISTI) with Versamark and heat embossed with holographic glitter embossing powder to make it extra sparkly. Now, time to fill the shaker! I wanted a variety of complementary colors that would go well with my holiday tropical shirt background, so I chose Mint Flora Sequins, Peach Whisper, Rose Gold Sequins, Turquoise and Caicos Sequins, and and Mint Pearl Seed Beads. After I had created my shaker mix, I added my acetate window panel over the top, then adhered my greeting over the top of the shaker window, popping it up with dimensional adhesive.

And there you have it! A holiday card that Clark Griswold would probably go nuts for. 🙂 Mele kalikimaka! Hope everybody has a fantastic week and weekend!

I love the idea of getting away from the traditional reds and greens. I am a big fan of shaker cards. Beautiful card, keep up the new ideas!
