A love/hate relationship…

Hi friends! Emily here today with a fairly simple card… Clean and simple has been my MO recently, and today is no exception. While scrolling through my Instagram feed, I realized that not once during The Daily Marker 30 Day did I use my Copic markers. Everything was watercolored. So I resolved that I would use my Copic markers for my next blog post. I pulled out Graceful Rose and colored my little heart out.

The Ton Copic Rose WM

I started by stamping the rose image onto Copic friendly white card stock with Copic friendly ink, and then I began my coloring. For the bloom itself, I used RV63, 66, and 69, and for the leaves, I used G40, 43, and 46. I then fussy cut the bloom and began work on the greeting and card base. (For as quick as that explanation was, you’d never know it took me two hours to color and cut that flower lol!!!)

For the greeting, I die cut one of the circles from the Stitched Circles die set and stamped the sympathy greeting from Large Peony 2 using Caviar ink. The card base was simply stamped with the Haute Stripes background using Crystal Pewter ink. I popped the circle and flower up with dimensional adhesive, then added some Fairy Pink and Twilight Rose sequins.

I hope you enjoyed this project! I discovered while creating it that I have a love/hate relationship with my Copics… I certainly can appreciate and love the smoothness of blending and the magnificent array of color choices, but I kind of hate how long it took to color this. My Zigs are so much quicker and I can achieve about the same amount of dimension and shading (I think) as I can with Copics in about 1/3 of the time. But they both each have their purposes, for sure. As with every medium, it’s totally personal preference!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend, friends! 🙂
