Those Roses…

Hello, friends! Happy Monday! Yeah, I know, whose Mondays are really happy, right? I’m always sad when I have to wake up at the crack of dawn with my kiddos on Monday, because my hubby usually always lets me sleep in on weekends. He pretty much rocks. Anyway, hopefully my watercolored shaker card will perk up your Monday morning blues! Nothing like pink roses and pretty sequins, right? 🙂

To start, I heat embossed the the beautiful bloom from Graceful Rose using The Ton’s new Rose Gold Embossing Powder onto some Canson Montval cold press watercolor paper. I then colored the flowers using the darkest pink Zig marker in my stash, blending and spreading the color with a wet paintbrush. I used a deep green-ish teal and dark royal purple Zig marker to finish off the coloring. I just love all of the dimension you can get with only three markers and a wet paintbrush!

After I had colored my A2 panel, I started work on the shaker portion. I used some of the pretty purple foil and adhered it to a piece of white cardstock. I then used the two largest Stitched Rectangle dies to create a frame for my shaker. The sentiment was created by die cutting the “fabulous” die from the pretty Bright Blue adhesive foil papers (so awesome that you don’t have to worry about your adhesive smushing out the sides of a piece of clear acetate!) and heat embossed the greeting from Basic Labels, again using the Rose Gold Embossing Powder to tie it into the background.

Next came the super fun part: filling the shaker box. I filled it with a variety of sequins, including Glass Slipper, Queens Pink, Bermuda Blue, Rose Gold, Don’t Wait on Me, and Light Rose Gold seed beads. After filling up my shaker, it was just a matter of adhering everything together. Love the beautiful colors on this one! I normally am all about pastels, but the jewel tones fit those roses so perfectly. I’m anxious to do a similar card with some pretty pastel pink roses, too!

Thanks for dropping by today! Have a fabulous week! 🙂
