Good morning, dear friends! Have I got a gorgeous card for you! The peonies from Loose Peonies were calling my name so I created a card using the set. I decided to create a watercolor background with one of the images. This technique is not uncommon, and the card almost always turns out incredible. So I started with a watercolor panel cut down to 4″ x 5.25″ with its corners rounded. I dusted it with powder since I was going to heat emboss and did not want any stray powders. I stamped the image with VersaMark randomly all over and heat set with clear embossing powder. I colored with two Distress Ink colors: Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistachio. I wanted to use a non-traditional green and thought the pistachio color would look divine. It almost reminds me of delicacies. Once the panel was dry, I sprayed it with white pigment spray and shimmer spray. These add a nice touch to watercolor backgrounds. I also added a few black splatters and set it aside to dry.
I used Fabulous Word Die to die-cut it four times from black cardstock and stacked them together with some multi medium matte. I glued it to the dried card base. I used a sentiment from Friend Defined by stamping it on black cardstock with VersaMark and heat setting it with white embossing powder. I matted it down with foam tape right below ‘fabulous.’
Instead of adding a strip of black and white pattern paper, I decided to use one of the backgrounds stamps for the base. I stamped the Geometric Lattice Cling Background using Noir Couture Color on my card base. Then I added the colored base over it slightly angled. To finish it off, I added Glass Slipper Sequins in various sizes.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
