Fabulous First Year

first anniv post

Hello, everyone and welcome.  Today I wanted to share these two cards that I made in celebration of The Ton’s first year anniversary.  I know we just did an entire week of celebrating but since January 19th was the actual anniversary (I know I’m a day late with  my post – but better late than never!), I wanted to do a special post for today.  I created two cards. One that is VERY glitzy and another one that is more serene.

I love the way this card came out.  I’ve been looking for ways to use our Petal Cut Peony dies in different ways.  I’ve created dimensional embellishments with them before but I haven’t tried making GLITTER die cut embellishments! I used adhesive sheets to adhere the glitter. It took some trial and error but I finally got it down (to a science!)

I used adhesive sheets for the glitter in this project.  When using adhesive sheets, you have to be careful not to touch the adhesive die cut because the adhesive will come off on your finger leaving bald spots on your glitter die cut (if this happens, just use your regular adhesive stamp runner to apply more adhesive).

Using adhesive sheets instead of sticky embossing powder works SO much better with glitter.  The sheets are easier, cleaner and give a more even finish to the glitter die cut.

I could’ve applied the same technique to the Fabulous sentiment but I thought the pink gave a nice pop of color to the card.

For my next card, I created a trendy and modern card using our new Haute Stripes and Fresh Cut Roses set.

I stamped the striped background stamp using our Noir dye ink (I used my Misti several times to get a sharp impression).  Then I stamped the roses using our Ruby and Peony Collection inks.  I continued to stamp the leaves in the set using our Minted Collection inks.  Then I fussy cut the roses and the leaves and pre-arranged them on my card.  Once I was satisfied with the layout, I stamped the Hello sentiment in gold glitter embossing powder.

After the embossing was done, I popped up the roses and leaves as shown above with some foam tape.  Then I finished off the card with some Matte Gold sequins in various sizes (8,6,5,4mm).

Thank you for stopping by today and for joining us in celebrating our anniversary! Happy crafting!
