Good morning, Jess here with a caffeinated shaker card! 😉 I realized that it’s been awhile since I’ve made a shaker card so I had to break out the beads, sequins, and foam tape!
I started off by stamping the cup from Tea Party with copic-friendly Caviar ink and then I used copics to color the handle and base of the mug. I colored the rose cup pattern with zig clean color real brush markers and spritzed it once with water before stamping it onto the cup for a softer look. Next I stamped the tea pot from Hug in a Mug with the same Caviar ink before coloring the lid and handle with copic markers.
I wanted to create a patterned tea pot with the same rose pattern so I stamped the tea pot onto masking paper and then carefully cut out the tea pot preserving the negative mask. I placed that around my stamped image and then placed masks on the tea pot handle and lid. I followed the same process with my zig markers and a spritz of water and stamped the cup pattern over my tea pot randomly. The masks kept the rose pattern from getting ink where I didn’t want it. I stamped the sentiment from Caffeine Crush Sentiments with Red Sangria ink and used masks to alter the look of the sentiment. Before I started working on my shaker element I also swiped Red Sangria ink over the edges of a piece of white cardstock to create a matching cardbase for my card.
I thought it would be fun to pour the tea from the pot into the cup with the use of a shaker element. I used a pencil to lightly draw the flow of the liquid and then I cut it out with a craft knife. I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the stamped panel and then added foam tape. I created a tight channel of foam tape around my cut-out so I wouldn’t waste gilding. I filled the card to the brim with Toasted Almond sequins in a variety of sizes and Extra Foam couture mix! I added a backing panel of kraft cardstock to the back of my shaker so that it would look more like tea and finally I adhered the shaker panel to my custom pink card base! I LOVE how a little masking allows you to use stamps in different ways and I’m happy that I’m starting 2016 with a shaker card! 😉
