Happy Friday, everyone!! It’s Effie here with a video on how to create this pink floral card using a partial spotlight die cutting technique with our Simple Florals set.
Here is my video!
This technique deviates a bit from the Spotlight Die cutting technique introduced by Jennifer McGuire here. Instead of using the original stamped image with the die cut images, I did away with the original stamped image. I only used the die cut letters with the partially stamped image inside the die cut.
I couldn’t leave the die cut letters by itself because there had to be some floral context (otherwise I just had letter with weird shapes and lines in them). Without the floral images in the background panel, the die cut letters just looked strange! So the matching florals on the background panel just brings the entire card together. I stamped the bottom half of the background panel with a line of florals in different sizes and alternated the solid and outlined floral stamps in 4 shades of pink (SSS Doll Pink and Cotton Candy; MFT Hybrid Razzleberry and HA Bubblegum). This ensure variety and more interest in the card.
I used ME’s die cut letters for the sentiment. First I spotlight die cute the original stamped image with the die cut letters. Then I die cut additional letters from light pink card stock. I glued the letters together to create my own embellishment and to create a faux embossed look. This is a cool technique also since I used light pink card stock for the letters underneath the spotlight die cuts. This created the light pink hue around the faux embossing.
Then I die cut two rectangular panels from Lawn Fawn’s Large Stitched Rectangle set (4.5 x 3.25 and 2.5 x 2.25). I stamped alternating florals onto the larger stitched rectangle. I adhered my letter embellishments onto the smaller stitched rectangle. Before I adhered the smaller stitched panel onto the larger background panel, I included a light pink mat behind the smaller panel to match the light pink of the embellishments. This is a very pink card!
Lastly, I stamped the back of the card with our Underwear Drawer sentiment with HA’s Bubblegum dye ink.
I hope you enjoyed my card and my video! I hope to bring you guys videos on a more regular basis!
